Apparently he was the first Serb to write a Philosophical Dissertation, in Latin, and was of open Albanian ethnicity. From Njegos: Jovan Stefanov Balevic, Albano-Montenegrin of Bratonozic clan, wrote this brief historical and geographical survey. www.njegos.org/past/balevicen.htmAccording to his own doctorate inscription: Publicly defended candidate Bojan Jovan Stefanovic Balevic Bratonozic - Albanian philos. and law cherisher of HALE MAGDEBURG

"12. Montenegrins count among themselves neighbouring Slav-Serbs of different provenience: Kuci, Bratonozici, Donji and Gornji Vasojevici, Piperi, Rovcani, Moracani, Bjelopavlici, who are Serb-Orthodox but Ottoman citizens. They, also, count Roman Catholics: Hoti, Klimenti, Grudi, Tuzi, Skrivali, Huzi, Maltezi, Kastrati and others who outnumber Montenegrins. " The majority of those "Slav-Serbs" clans have a substantial amount of Albanian influence and/or are of Albanian origin i.e Vasojevici, Bjelopavlici, Piperi etc. Nice to know that the number of people in those Albanian Catholic tribes outnumber the Montenegrins in Montenegro itself. I wonder what ever happened to them?

Well, they surely didnt change their names to albanian ones. LMAO You're right the vast majority of them either converted to Islam and took on the Bosnian identity, especially those from the Sandzak region, or assimilated into a "montenegrin" identity. Anyway, my point is that Montenegro is heavily influenced by Albanians and has been since antiquity. Didn't a former Montenegrin member in here find out that he was partially a descendant of Albanian Catholics from Montenegro/Hercegovina (I think it may of been PARTISAN/njegos). Terroreign also alluded to the fact that he has Albanian ancestors on this very forum. P.s TerrorReign, what the hell is an ethnic Montenegrin?

Even Shqiptars prefer not to be Shqiptars (they prefer to be Illyrians). And the only reason a Shqiptar would be proud to be a Shqiptar is because they don't have a choice and are trying to compensate.
