Any Cyprus deal to be approved by Turkey, Talat says Turkish Cypriot President Talat said a just and permanent peace in Cyprus would be reached by negotiations. Friday, 12 June 2009 12:48 President of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) Mehmet Ali Talat said Friday a just and permanent peace in Cyprus would be reached by negotiations. President Talat received the Speaker of Turkish Parliament, Koksal Toptan, in Lefkosa on Friday. Speaking to reporters while receiving Toptan, Talat said that they wanted to see a solution (in Cyprus) in 2009. An agreement reached in Cyprus would have to be approved by the Turkish Parliament, Talat stressed. We expect both the negotiations in Cyprus to give out a positive result without making concessions from basic principles, and the European Union (EU) to fulfill its duties and isolations imposed on the Turkish Cypriots to end, Toptan said. Toptan said that, as always, relations between Turkey and the TRNC continued positively. "Everyone should be careful in solving the Cyprus problem and there are important points everyone must accept. We share the same notions with the TRNC on this matter," Toptan said. "We have never regarded a deadlock as a solution. The hastiness with which the EU accepted the Greek Cypriot administration as a member caused difficulties in solving the Cyprus problem," Toptan said. www.worldbulletin.net/news_detail.php?id=43252

Permanent Representative to the UN protests against new violations of Cyprus’s sovereignty, territorial integrity, air and maritime space by Turkey
The Permanent Representative of Cyprus to the UN Ambassador Minas A. Hadjimichael addressed a letter on 4 June 2009 to the United Nations Secretary General, in which he protests against new violations of Cyprus’s sovereignty and territorial integrity as well as its air and maritime space by Turkey. These violations occurred on 27 and 28 May respectively, when a Turkish corvette harassed the Cypriot-flagged vessel EDT ARES , carrying out maintenance on an installation for the collection of meteorological information off the south-west coast of Cyprus, upon request of the competent authorities of the Government of Cyprus and the next day, a Turkish fighter jet flew to the above area, in violation of Cypriot airspace and issued radio warnings to EDT ARES to withdraw “as it was in Turkish territorial waters and the exclusive economic zone of Turkey”. The Permanent Representative stresses in his letter that these actions create unnecessary confrontation and tension, which is in fact the intended purpose on the part of Turkey in order to intimidate the Republic of Cyprus and obstruct it from carrying out any activity in its exclusive economic zone, especially as regards the exploration and exploitation of its sovereign natural resources. “The Republic of Cyprus”, he underlines, “stands ready to continue the process of delimitation of its exclusive economic zone with all its neighbouring States, pursuant to and on the basis of the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea. The Government of Cyprus has no doubts about its sovereignty over the totality of its territory, its territorial sea and its airspace and/or about its sovereign rights over its exclusive economic zone and its continental shelf”. The letter circulated on 10June 2009 as a document of the General Assembly, under agenda item 21, and of the Security Council. - 11.06.2009

If you kill one head of the dragon, more heads will pop up.

If you kill one head of the dragon, more heads will pop up. The problem janisary is... these heads tend to disappear everytime an EU or UN letter comes to your PM's office accussing Turkey for brutality..in something You want west Jannisary.. and these "heads" or else known as "Policy ala Turka" helps you only in the East. Ufortunately in order to have these heads.. you.. categorize yourselves to the East. Coups and 3rd world policies will be your future. Thats the price for the 'heads' philosophy..
