Nah, that was because "Muslims" were granted status of a nation (narod).

^ That was from the 1974 Constitution wasn't it? This is 1961-1971.

Many Musalimans declared themselves as Yugoslavs and a percetage of Bosniak population was hidden there too. Some Bosniaks declared themselves as Serbs (Mesa Selimovic) and some of them declared themselves as Croats (Mak Dizdar).
How would you declare yourself if you were living at that time!?

I'd declare myself Yugoslav. If Yugoslavia had another leader like Tito, and the SFRJ held on for another 50 years, many would concider themselves Yugoslav, and not Slovene/Croat/Serb/Bosniak.

I agree with you! I believe all of us are Yugoslavs (6 republics) with different etnicities. There were rather regions in Yugoslavia then republics.
I am sorry for Yugoslavia.
That was a great country!

In 1971 you could choose that option.

Look at the drop off in Yugoslavs. Many Bosniaks declared as such in 1961.

Jugosloveni: 275.883 (1961) Jugosloveni: 43.796 (1971)
They had no other choice, since the Commies didn't want more divisions within SFRJ. Stricter laws would have come into place if they didn't change with time. Tito knew that nobody would be capable enough to carry on his work, so thats why the 1974 Constitution was much more eased and relaxed compared to the 1946, 1953, and 1963 Adoptations and Revisions.

There will never be another Tito or another united Yugoslavia and that can be good thing

Between 1971 and 1981 there was a 147,500 increase in Muslims, between 1981 and 1991 there was a 275, 905 increase in Muslims. I don't think a significant number of Muslims declared as Serb or Croat. Serbian and Croatian overall numbers are known to have decreased during that time period, mostly thanks to emigration (to Croatia and Serbia).

I would say that "Muslims" just didn't declare at all. Natality rate is one thing but when a population almost doubles in just 10 years well that something else.

Bosniaks were in great many cases forced to declare Serb or Croat (case with my own family).
1971 Census allowed Bosniaks to declare as "Muslims as a nationality, which brought about a big change in statistics.
No major change in birth rate, but rather a change in statistics.

Your case is irrelevant, we are talking about Bosnia here.
