At the time, Kapadokian Greeks were TRU Greeks, absolutely no doubt about it.

BUT in Istanbul the language was LATIN, at the same time.

GRIGORIOS considered the work : Greek as an insult, and taught that the ethnic-Greeks were an alien culture to Orthodoxy.

So, those 3, and ALL early Orhtodox Christians were FIRST OF ALL ORHTODOX.

Ethnic affiliation was not even a secondary concern.

Emmanouíl Karalís (Greek: Εμμανουήλ Καραλής), born 20 October 1999 in Athens, is a Greek pole vaulter.He is the son of a Greek father from Pyrgos, and a Ugandan mother. He won the silver medal at the 2019 and 2021 European Athletics U23 Championships and placed fourth at the 2020 Summer Olympics. He has a twin sister, named Angeliki.

Emmanouil Karalis Wins Silver for Greece in European Championships

Pole vaulter Emmanouil Karalis won silver for Greece on Sunday at the European Indoor Championships that took place in Istanbul.
The Greek champion came second in an ultra-tight competition that saw five men finish on a best of 5.80m.
Karalis was edged out of the gold medal by Norway’s Sondre Guttormsen, who helped his nation to top the medal table with four golds.

Karalis shared the silver with Piotr Lisek of Poland. Guttormsen won via a flawless series up to and including 5.80m, putting him in firm command as the bar moved to 5.85m, where no one was successful.

Karalis recorded just one failure before that, at 5.60m, while Lisek’s sole failure came at 5.70m.
Karalis, the son of a Greek father from Pyrgos, and a Ugandan mother, has the Greek pole vault record of 5.86m, set on Feb 18, 2023, in Athens, Greece.

My research focuses on using genetic epidemiology to understand the causes and consequences of mental health problems in the general population. My group investigates childhood mental health and (neuro)developmental problems, including ADHD, autism and cleft lip and/or palate and their progression across the lifespan.

We use polygenic risk scores, Mendelian randomization as well as other causally informative designs and longitudinal observational investigations to study the natural progression of mental health traits across the lifespan, factors involved in developing mental health problems at different time points and outcomes.

I currently lead an MRC research grant focused on improving mental outcomes in children born with cleft in collaboration with the Cleft Collective, one of the largest genetic studies of cleft lip/palate, and the MRC Centre for Neuropsychiatric Genetics and Genomics in Cardiff University. Our work aims to investigate common and rare genetic factors (Copy Number Variants) implicated in mental health problems in children born with cleft.

Grigoris T Gerotziafas is Head of the research group "Cancer Hemostasis and Angiogenesis" in INSERM UMRS-938 (Centre de Recherche Saint Antoine Paris, France) at the Faculté de Médecine, Sorbonne Université and leads the Clinical Haemostasis Group at Tenon-Saint Antoine Hospital AP-HP.6 Sorbonne Université which is expert in the in the prevention and treatment of cancer associated thrombosis, management the antithrombotic treatment, management of perioperative bleeding, vascular complications in pregnancy management of subfertility related with vascular alterations and optimization of antithrombotic treatment in women undergoing assisted reproductive procedures.
The fundamental research of Professor Gerotziafas’ group is focused on the interactions between cancer cells, endothelial cells and blood coagulation as well as on the mechanism of action of the antithrombotic agents in the tumor micro-environment.
His group is active in translational research thought the the COMPASS-Thrombosis and the ROADMAP-Thrombosis projects which aim the development of clinic-biological risk assessment models for vascular complications (i.e. cancer associated thrombosis, failure of assisted reproductive techniques, vascular complications of pregnancy, COVID-19 worsening) and the optimization of the antithrombotic treatment.
Professor Gerotziafas also leads the translational research project COVID-19 and Thrombosis and as President of the Scientific Committee of the VAS-European Independent Foundation in Angiology/Vascular Medicine, leads the The Guidance for the management of patients with vascular disease or cardiovascular risk factors and COVID-19.
Professor Gerotziafas is Visiting Professor at the Loyola Faculty of Medicine (Department of Molecular Pharmacology and Therapeutics) in Chicago, the School of Medicine at Hofstra/Northwell (Department of Medicine, Anticoagulation and Clinical Thrombosis Services) in New York and at the Faculty of Medicine of the European University of Cyprus.
He has contributed as an expert to the development of several international guidelines on the management of thrombosis.
Professor Gerotziafas is President of the Committee for the Therapeutic Protocols for the Prevention and Treatment of Venous Thromboembolic Disease, held under the auspice of the Greek Ministry of Health.

Stephen John Brademas Jr. (March 2, 1927 – July 11, 2016) was an American politician and educator originally from Indiana. He served as Majority Whip of the United States House of Representatives for the Democratic Party from 1977 to 1981 at the conclusion of a twenty-year career as a member of the United States House of Representatives. In addition to his major legislative accomplishments, including much federal legislation pertaining to schools, arts, and the humanities, he served as the 13th president of New York University from 1981 to 1992, and was a member of and subsequently the chairman of the board of the Federal Reserve Bank of New York. Early life and career

The oldest of four children, Brademas was born in 1927 to Stephen John Brademas, a Greek immigrant father, and the former Beatrice Goble, an American mother, in Mishawaka, Indiana. His father ran a restaurant and his mother was an elementary school teacher. He spent summers with his maternal grandfather, who was the state superintendent of schools in Canada, and possessed a large library.

Brademas graduated as valedictorian from Central High School in South Bend, Indiana. He served two years in the U.S. Navy, stationed in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He attended Harvard University, from which he graduated with an A.B. magna cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa and where he was affiliated with Adams House. His Harvard thesis, The Sinarquista Movement in Mexico: Its Implications for the United States, was published in April 1949. He won a Rhodes Scholarship and attended Brasenose College, Oxford, from which he received his D.Phil. in Social Studies.

After leaving Congress, Brademas moved to New York and served as president of New York University from 1981 to 1992. In 1990, he co-chaired the bipartisan independent commission mandated by Congress to review the grant-making procedures of the NEA. He was appointed by President Bill Clinton as chairman of the President's Committee on the Arts and the Humanities, and was also chairman of the National Endowment for Democracy, as well as a member of the Consultants' Panel to the Comptroller General of the United States.

Film actress Paulette Goddard left her multimillion-dollar estate to New York University in large part due to her friendship with Brademas.

Brademas served on a number of boards and national commissions on subjects ranging from the arts to higher education, foreign policy, jobs and small business, historic documents and records, and science, technology and government.

He was the chairman of the American Ditchley Foundation and co-chaired the Center for Science, Technology and Congress at the American Association for the Advancement of Science in Washington, D.C.

Brademas served as chairman of the board of the Federal Reserve Bank of New York, as well as on the boards of Overseers of Harvard, New York Stock Exchange, Rockefeller Foundation and the Central Committee of the World Council of Churches. He is a fellow of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences and the Academy of Athens. He served on several corporate board as well as boards of the Alexander S. Onassis Public Benefit Foundation, American Council for the Arts, Center for National Policy and the Spanish Institute.

Brademas was awarded honorary degrees by 47 colleges and universities. He also received the annual Award for Distinguished Service to the Arts of the American Academy and Institute of Arts and Letters. The Middle Common Room of Brasenose College, Oxford, is located in the Brademas Room, which is named in honor of Brademas.

Theodora Gkountoura (born 14 March 1997) is a Greek sabre fencer.

She participated at the 2019 World Fencing Championships, winning a bronze medal.

She has won the silver medal in the Orléans Grand Prix 2021 and the gold medal in the Grand Prix of Seoul in 2023.

As for the World Cup, she has won the bronze medal in Athens in 2020, the silver medal in Tbilisi in 2022, the bronze medal in Algiers in 2022, the silver medal in Tashkent in 2023, the bronze medal in Athens in 2023 and the bronze medal in Sint-Niklaas in 2023.

So far, she has reached a career highest ranking of 3rd place in the 2021-2022 season.

She has been a fencing athlete of AEK multi-sport club,but she's currently an athlete of A.O. Ariston Paianias.She has been 4 times champion in sabre in Greece.

Greece is on the FIBA U20 European Championship podium after prevailing 68-64 over Belgium in the short final in a 45-minute match.

The Blue and White found themselves chasing double-digit differences late in the third quarter but went on a 16-4 run in the fourth quarter to send the game into overtime. There, they were calmer, found the right options and got the big win

The Daniels Faculty is pleased to announce that assistant professor Petros Babasikas has been appointed to the position of director of the Bachelor of Arts, Architectural Studies program (BAAS) effective July 1, 2021.

As director, Babasikas assumes leadership of the unique undergraduate program that uses architectural studies as a lens for students to pursue a broad, liberal arts-based education. “I am honoured to take on the role at a time when our students are translating their studies into tangible impact more than ever before” said Babasikas.

Following two years of core courses in the design, history, and technology of architecture, landscape, and urbanism, BAAS students focus on a stream with a particular emphasis: Design, History & Theory, or Technology. Students may also elect to keep their course of study broad and pursue the Comprehensive Specialist steam.

Babasikas joined the Daniels Faculty in 2017 teaching in both the undergraduate and graduate architecture programs. When the university moved to virtual learning in 2020, Babasikas adapted the model-making activities within Architecture Studio III (ARC361) to incorporate student-produced short films. Students proved so adept at creating architectural drama in their short films that Babasikas is planning to make video a permanent part of ARC361's syllabus.

Greece won the silver medal at the World Aquatics Championships in Fukuoka, Japan, after it lost in the penalty shoot-out to Hungary, on Saturday.

After a very tight final that ended 10-10, the Greeks lost 4-3 in the shout-out.

Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis congratulated the national polo team for winning second place in the World Championship for the first time in its history.

Theodoros "Thodoris" Vlachos (born 9 July 1969, in Volos) is a retired Greek water polo player and the current coach of the Greece men's national water polo team.

As a player, Vlachos played for Olympiacos from 1989 to 1998, winning numerous titles. He was also a member of the Greece men's national water polo team. Greece wins its first-ever gold medal at U17 Europeans.

Greece is the new European champion for the U17 male water polo players.

The Greeks narrowly defeated Serbia 9:8 in the final of the 2023 European U17 Championships in Manisa. The first two quarters were crucial for the outcome of the final game. At halftime, Greece led 6:1. Serbia was close to an equalizer at the finish, but Greece didn’t let the rival come back.

Today’s triumph is the first gold for Greece at the Men’s European U17 Championships. Two years ago, Greece finished 2nd at the U17 Europeans in Malta,after Serbia defeated it in the final.

Spain won the bronze medal beating Hungary convincingly 14:8 in the third-place game.
