I don't think it's very serious ... I don't trust in God, but still, I consider myself as a muslim. Exactly. Most Catholics from the North are serious about their religion. Let's be fair, they held their religion when the Ottomans arrived and were killed practicing their religion through Communism, thus, the majority of them feel Catholic. Now those Catholics from Middle Albania are not as religious and you will find self proclaimed atheists with a Catholic background. As for the Muslims, they are much less religious and most are Muslim by name. From the North to the South you will find self proclaimed Atheists with Muslim backgrounds. The majority of Muslims would even convert if they found it beneficial. What I'm trying to say is, the majority of "Atheists" in the study have a Muslim background and probably consider themselves Muslim even if they do not follow the religion. As for the Orthodox, I'm not exactly sure since I don't have too many encounters with them.

I grew up around that Catholic Church During my childhood the building was converted to a theater for children. My mom worked for 20 years in the building right next to the Catholic Church, Ndermarrja HidroGjeologjike (pictured in the background). I went to the Church as a kid for a New Year celebration where my mom's firm handed out toys. The church was very impressive and a much better structure than "Teatri i Kukullave." As for the Muslims, they are much less religious and most are Muslim by name. This is true of the Bektashis not the rest of the Muslims in Albania. Central and North Albanians take their Islamd a little more seriously. Bektashism was considered the fourth religion in Albania but now it seems to have fallen by the wayside.

The muslim part of my family is mostly Bektashi and they are all either Atheists today or have "unofficially" converted to Catholicism (they married women who pretty much act Christian and let them do as they pleased). MY Sunni central Albanian side hasnt been Sunni since... 60 yrs ago my grandfather married an Orthodox woman from the south.
its like whenever an Albanian muslim man marries a Christian woman.... the whole family suddenly becomes Christian.
Bektashism is now on the verge of death, unfortunately. Conversions, emigration and religious indifference has taken its toll...

Watch the Greeks now claiming 16.1% of Albanians are Greek. ok ok.. all these Orthodox in China or whatever.. dont look like Greeks.... but that 16.1%.. does. As I said.. mirrors dont lie. It is not the Orthodox religion that makes them of Hellenic stock. Its the mirror!

In Korca some Orthodox are very religious want all Albanians to be Orthodox or at least Catholic others just celebrate Christmas and Easter. we call the Muslims Turks sometimes or skuranik if you prefer but most get along and intermarry. but whether Muslim or Orthodox Korcars generally feel superior to the rest of Albanians.

but whether Muslim or Orthodox Korcars generally feel superior to the rest of Albanians. That goes pretty much for every region in Albania, including Ndroqin and Momlin.
