Vlad Tepes was supposedly of Cumanic origin so it is ironic in many ways that he fought against the Ottomans Wow, you must be a historian. In fact, Vlad Tepes was not of Cuman origin. The Basarab house, which he belonged to, is believed to have had Cuman origin. If we must count all of the origins that Vlad had, we most also include Serb and Bulgarian roots. Not to say Romanian ones. On the other hand, Mehmed II had Greek origins, which makes it ironic that he sacked Constantinople and fought countless of wars against Greeks and other Orthodox nations.

To say that he was of Cuman origin designates that he was Cuman. To say that he had Cuman roots designates that some of his forefathers were Cuman. One can have many different roots and such was the case with the house of Basarab.
Storm, by the way you reason, you must be Bulgarian.

Toate lipitorile astea sunt invidoase pe istoria noastra.... sarbii, bulgarii si toate scursurile sifilitice ale orientului care, prin cine site ce intamplari nefericite, au ajuns in Balcani si Europa.

Diurpaneus,
I am glad you found a way to satisfy your inferiority complex. Keep watching those movies, so you may increase your courage and bravery against all kind of dominating powers around your country. EU would be a good one to start with... May be US will be next. Comon... Go for it... After all, you defeated Turks, thus nodoby else can stop you... ;D

Janny, did you grow up in the USSR? I did not. My grand grand fathers/mothers were used to live in Caucasus and Crimea though.

Ohh... When you said that you are Karachay-Balkar I had the impression that you grew up in the USSR.

Ohh... When you said that you are Karachay-Balkar I had the impression that you grew up in the USSR. My father's family were Karachay-Balkars emigrated from Circassia in 1860s. My mother's family were the emigrants from Crimea and Dagestan who settled in Anatolia in the 19th Century. I want to visit these places one day.

I am glad you found a way to satisfy your inferiority complex. How can one show that one has a "superiority complex" according to you?
