Turkish officials completed the first stage of restoration works, started for Ottoman era- Monuments in Albania. Turkish Cooperation and Development Administration (TIKA) has been carrying out the project, aiming to protect Turkish heritage in Albania. The four experts from TIKA Presidency and Turkish Ministry of Culture and Tourism went to Albania for technical review and started to determine the works that is planned to be restored in 2009. The delegation has reviewed a total of 16 mosques, mansions and the Turkish baths in 10 cities, including Tirana, Durres (Drach), Ishkodra, Elbasan, Gjirokastra (Ergiri), Peqin, Korca, Vlora, Berat and Kruja. Albanian Muslim League and local authorities from the Institute of Historical Works accompanied the delegation and expressed their gratitude of the Albanian people and administrators for the restoration projects. www.worldbulletin.net/news_detail.php?id=40862

There are a lot of old sites that need restoration, among them:
Xhamia e Plumbit in Shkoder (destroyed when the Communists flooded the plain. Xhamia e Sultan Fatihut (originally a church but converted by Mehmet II 'Fatih', hence the name, upon conquest of Shkoder, various Christian organizations want to rebuild it as a church, I hope the Turkish groups get to it first and restore it as a mosque) Xhamia e Mirahorit in Korca
These are some of the highlights of Ottoman architecture in Albania.

I have no problem with mosques and turkish baths being reconstructed. I bet they will attract a lot of tourism.
Plus, I am very fond of the architecture as shown in the second picture.

LOL ! you guys are classic...
Here is islam and albanians at their finest...
they should of turned baptists and stuck w/ their roofing company...poor bastards..
Three Albanian brothers born in Macedonian city of Debar were sentenced to life in prison Tuesday for a plot to kill soldiers on a U.S. military base.
Dritan Duka (30), Shain Duka (28) and Elvir Duka (25), all alleged immigrants, were each handed life sentences for planning an attack on Fort Dix military base in Philadelphia, which prosecutors said was inspired by the idea of holy war against the United States.
They were among five foreign-born Muslims convicted. The other two convicted men, Shnever, a Jordanian-born taxi driver from Philadelphia, and Serdar Tatar, a convenience store clerk born in Turkey, were to be sentenced on Wednesday. The three said they were innocent and victims of a conspiracy.
The five-member group was arrested in April 2007, after an FBI informant who infiltrated the group obtained audio and video recordings showing the men purchasing seven automatic rifles for $1.400. The footage also showed the men shooting into the air.
The three immigrated in Italy in 1980s and later in the United States. They ran a roofing business in New Jersey. /end/

This is why Gjergj Kastrioti fought against the bastard turks, he saw their cruel ways of dealing with people and saw what kind of religion islam was, and immediately returned back to help his people keep these animals away from the balkans. (sucks the rest of europeans didn't offer any help)

Yes..Kastriotis is one of your finest men ever produced in history. The perfect link between our 2 ppl's as well. Its a good thing not to many albanians are hardcore islamafascists...but the ones that are, should be smacked upside their heads by your compatriots..knock some sense into them and for God's sake resist these private funded islamification on your country. If your gonna do it, do it with the state of Albania not a 3rd country.

Same point as putting a huge Church in the middle of Prishtina. Pointless really but I guess it adds to the cultural value.

^^^lol he's an idiot, cause he's always praising turks, when in reality turks are very anti-albanian, or better say they are pro-albanian but they have a distorted view of Albanian society and history etc
for example my friends went to Turkey and were greeted warmly but as "muslim brothers", and they despised Skenderbeg and Nene Teresa
this in Istambul, figure in Anatolia
so, seriously, fuck Turks
and their orthodox bloodbrothers in our SE.

Modern Turkey has recognized Kosova and gave support to Albania during 97’ against Greece. If you would like to hate the Ottomans fine, but Turkey today has proven to be oen of Albania’s few allies in the Balkans.

Your own phobia is your business, Kadikoy, you dont see me hijacking your topics. In fact, I never post in your topics unless Albania is mentioned. This is all Albanian territory. You came here attacking another man's religion.
They will restore it just fine, without any problems. Hell I bet they will hire locals to help with the restoration. The Mirahor Mosque needs a new minaret to blast the ezan. In fact, Turkey will also help in the restoration of the old market quarter of Korca from what I have heard, a place which has needed restoration for a while now.
Greeks have built churches everywhere, even where there are no Orthodox Christians in the country. So have all other groups. Too bad for you guys the vast majority of the country doesnt think anywhere near what you think/care for.

^^^ wrong again...i couldnt care less what each person religion is. If anything, im trying to show your roots which you seem to forget. Mass conversion of albanians is what set the divide between greeks and albanians. Thats the truth...
