its beautiful, true love.  hopefully athens is next after belgrade. lets cross our fingers. you shouldnt feel insulted by what I write. Its a fact that our country did also gain independence only thanks to the English and French...and Russians in order to hit the Ottoman Empire. Every Balkan country gained independence for this reason actually. But we did never love the English...or thank them for anything. They didnt do it for us...but for themselves only. Our right for freedom was only mentioned if it was about to justify the evisceration of the Ottoman Empire. Be intelligent and dont jump from one servitude to another...for one time in your history. |

Of fvck it just hit me malakas are jealous becasue we're kissing American ass and not Greek ass. In their view Americans have done shit for us while the Greeks did not leave us starve to death and provided us with jobs, education, healthcare, new names, new cars, new homes and billions of drachmas for infrastructure.

Basil, I'll get back at you when you stop thinking its ok to ethnically cleanse people. At least you have to admit, I dont have double standarts. I use the same language for Asia Minor displaced Greeks too... and I used the same language for Greeks when building statues' ...and what I see is that almost every Greek in this forum is straight with his answers without using double standarts. He accepts for him what he accepts for others. I have not seing that between Albanians though..  |

Not really. Its ok to ethnically cleanse Albanians but not ok to cleanse Greeks according to majority of Greeks in the Greek forum.
Its never ok to ethnically cleanse people. There are no justifications in this world that make it ok to do such a thing; no matter the ethnicity of the victims. Justifying ethnic cleansing is having no problem with murder whatsoever.

I'm not offended at all. I wish relations b/w Albania and America get stronger. Much stronger than they are now in the future. But also that speaks a lot about Greek people. Other people gaining independence for you. Fighting for you, giving you money and financial aid and not an ounce of gratefulness in return. Perhaps if we shattered some of the "ancient greek myths"; they wont have to support you. It's not just some marshal plan, but you are so interdependent with the West today. Greece is like a pampered baby which when it does not get what it wants. It starts crying. You want us to be like that. That's not in our character to be like that. |

You do wrong by us we will pay you back tenfold and if you do right by us we will pay you back tenfold. The Canon of Lek specifically states that an Albanian's house belongs to the visitor/friend. Albanians take extraordinary steps to ensure that a visitor/friend is shown gratitude and hospitality. If you do any favor to an Albanian he's restless until he pays you back manifold. I remember vividly growing up that the best food was always saved for visitiors/friends and when people slept over my parents would let them sleep in their bedroom. But of course to those who don't like Americans they want to portray this as ass licking as it conveniently fits their agenda. |

Hey Tulip. I just wanted to make a comment about the Albanian code of honor. I will only make a deal on a handshake with an Albanian because they would never go against that code. I say that from experience. It is always a good thing.

That's your issues to deal with. Maybe if you treated immigrants better; they wont have to do those kind of things. The fact that there is a religious diversity is a good thing for Albania. In that regard we are 100% more emancipated than every Balkan country. You will find muslims, catholics, orthodox, protestants,,, whatever... all of them proud of their country.
Today, Albania is noit just an isolated tribes and clan of people living by their code of honour. There are Slavs, Vlachs, Greeks, Gypsies,,, etc that have assimilated into our culture. We hope everyone will uphoald those historic values. And obviously not everyone will and some will change their name.
But generally speaking we are a positive people and showing gratitude and friendliness is part of our culture.
Greeks can be negative nellies and pampered babies. But don't ask of us to be the same.
