I have to say, Isa Blumi's articles are extremely interesting and he is quickly becoming the pre-eminent Albanian scholar on late-Ottoman issues. I have a feeling he will really open up our knowledge of Albanian communities in that particular period of Ottoman history with his research. Someone I really want to follow. He has printed two major books so far: Redefining Balkan Nationalism: Albanian Identities at the End of the Ottoman Era and Consequential Imperialism: How Peasants, Shepherds and Merchants in Arabia and the Balkans Changed the WorldIsa mentor students who are currently working on projects are as diverse as theological polemics among Shi’a in the Middle East and East Asia; Punk in Yugoslavia, nationalism in the Balkans; community activism through the internet in Turkey, the formation of modern Albanian identity and the effects of the Cold War on the evolution of American Jazz. www2.gsu.edu/~wwwhis/4021.html
