Serbia will sue Croatia for genocide December 27, 1:25 AM
It looks like Serbia will be formally filing charges of genocide against Croatia at the International Court of Justice (ICJ) for crimes committed against Croatian-Serbs between 1991 and 1995, specifically in the towns of Gospic, Karlovac, Medak, Maslenica, Pakrac, Osijek, Paulin Dvor, and Sisak. The lawsuit also includes actions during Operation Flash and Operation Storm against the self-proclaimed Republic of Serb Krajina. Serbia's lawsuit will also "...offer a historical angle as it will present the Serb-Croat relations, particularly highlighting the Second World War. It was then that mass slaughter of Serbs occurred in the death camp of Jasenovac...," which was run by the Independent State of Croatia ( www.b92.net/eng/news/politics-article.php?yyyy=2009&mm=12&dd=24&nav_id=64006 ). Ten years ago, Croatia filed a genocide case against Serbia for actions taken on Croatian soil, and the ICJ gave Belgrade until 22 March 2010 to respond to the charges.
Serbian President Boris Tadic, upon learning that Serbia's legal team has finished its work on the genocide lawsuit, said that his country should not rush to file its counter-suit. “'In my opinion it would have been better if Croatia did not file the suit against Serbia and if Serbia did not have to respond with a countersuit, and if issues regarding the civil rights of both Croat and Serb citizens could be solved in processes which did not have such deep implications to our inter/state and international relations,'” said Tadic ( www.b92.net/eng/news/politics-article.php?yyyy=2009&mm=12&dd=25&nav_id=64017 ). Update:
Serb Foreign Minister Vuk Jeremic said in a news interview today (29 Dec 09) that "...'Serbia’s lawsuit is finished. The suit is written and it is very ample.'" Regarding Croatia's own genocide case against Serbia, Jeremic said that his "...'personal opinion is that it is much more in Croatia’s interest to refrain from the court process, but that is just my opinion.'" The foreign minister also stated that he would rather see Serbia and Croatia "...'look towards a united future than to face each other in court. I hope that there is still time for it not to come to this'" ( www.b92.net/eng/news/politics-article.php?yyyy=2009&mm=12&dd=29&nav_id=64116 ).
He did not elaborate on why he thought it was not in Croatia's "best interest" to continue its genocide suit against Serbia.

When is Serbia going to sue Bosnia for the massacre in Srebrenica?
They should have Boris Tadic and Vuk Jeremic as the new faces of Adidas' "Impossible is nothing" campaign.
