Chinese are everywhere in Albania, particularly Tirana. Nothing like hearing them speak Albanian. Its hilarious! Anyway, I dont mind Asians. They have a very weak sense of national identity. Within a generation they are all entirely assimilated. Many even convert to the predominant faith. Asia is a big continet. Korea alone has bigger population than the whole balkans. Its not easy to generalize. On the other hand, here in Greece, Chinese is the *only* minority which does not care to learn the language of the locals, nor do they show any interest for the local culture. I think they are employees of their companies back in china. They are not stray immigrants.

^ they just like to open a small shop to sell their cheap goods, when its good they bring more of their families over. 20 years ago the greeks and the italians here in australia were the largest minority, now the chinese have taken over and they are the largest.

i dont mind asians because they work hard and dont casue trouble. try growing up with blacks and spanish....now there is trouble. Ermmmm a stereotype. I'm Asian and I'm a lazy pig .I only to indulge. I guess its because of how Asians in America have the highest percentage of tertiary education attainment and also the highest income group.

That means a corresponding version of Balkans in Asia would have anywhere from 3 to 4 times more people then us which is 80m (including Istanbul) for Balkans versus 240m to 320m for their version of Balkans. This comes before anything else and it is the chief reason why they do not learn the language right away. Their children, however, are often completely assimilated. Many cant even speak Chinese within a single generation. What? So Albanians care to learn about Greek culture?

See, that's bad. If they assimilate then they're more likely to stay and not go back to China.

There probably isn't anywhere significantly over 25,000.
Probably some 8,000 or so in Beograd. MAybe 15,000 in the rest of the country combined.
Their ppopulation probably peaked around 2000, when esitmates of 100,000 were routinely heard.
Since then they've either gone home after earning money or headed west.
To Srbobran. I don't think the Canada analogy works. Canada is a state that can't be compared to european states, it is not a nation state it is a civic nation.
Anyways. In Canada the state actively encourages immigration. Plus the immigration policy and integration policies differ from those of European states (they're supported by the majority of the population, and are not the terrible policies in Europe which are basically a way to drive down wages and lead to nothing more then ethnic ghettoes).
As with regard to industry. Serbia would probably be importing the same amount of Chinese crap, if they lived here or not.
I'd rather have the Chinese import it and sell it cheaply, then have some Serb import it, overprice it and sell it at the Pijaca (like these cheap goods were sold before the chinese came).
When it comes to textiles. Textiles are an industry of the past and even if one is hurt by their impact fault also lies on the part of our producers. For god sakes importing textiles from Ukraine, Romania, Turkey, Bulgaria to EU is cheaper then importing from China, the same applies to Serbia -- it's just unlike the previously mentioned crescent of cheap labour our manufacturers are too incompetent to use this fact.
I also recommend someone check if the goods are actually from China. One of the 4 or 5 Chinese stores where my fmaily lives in Serbia, sells mostly cheap Turkish goods.

Nothing against orientals, but they don't belong in the Balkans. I don't want no oriental mixing in the people from the Balkans.
