Macedonian National Theater will be built. Only have renders so far. The interior will look pretty modern.

Impressive. Nikola brate are you sure there is enough room in Macedonia to fit all these buildings in? ;D Haha, good point. It is a fairly small country afterall. But then, Slovenia is just as small and look at all the stuff they have.

They are thinking about building three new towers. This should be quite amazing if it becomes true. I was wondering what they were going to build in that small area, which is currently just a car park and some old houses. Three skyscrapers, to be built on land opposite the hotel "Holiday Inn" and to finally urbanize the entire area around Drvodekor. Dragan Simonovski, spokesman of the Ministry of Transport and Communications, says that the only thing that stops construction of the skyscrapers is the procedure of denationalization that leads to this land. Construction can not begin until the complete procedure for restitution, to follow and revocation of user rights of the owners of part of building land plot.
The purpose is collective housing, temporary housing, public institutions, and commercial and business purposes. The three towers will be mutually connected blocks, which will be cascaded down to the quay of Vardar River. Parking is addressed in an underground parking space on three levels, which will serve the routes from underground to pass through the city center.

lol, how much business does Macedonia have that it needs not one, but three? How tall are they supposed to be? They have been approved up to 500 meters for each tower (which is up there with the highest in the world) but they won't go that high. At least I hope not. It would look weird having such huge towers with everything else around them so tiny. And all that's required for buildings like this to start being erect is foreign investors willing to put some of their money towards Balkan countries. Look at Prishtina, they had nothing and all of a sudden they are building some amazing skyscrapers. Even more amazing than what I'm posting in this thread. Check out this site for pics of Prishtina. www.skyscrapercity.com/showthread.php?t=590666&page=33

Makedonci are smart people. Dude this is very progressive, and I'm actually in some sense proud to see Makedonija advancing. Прекрасни луѓе со прекрасна земја. Што друго да кажам.

I know what you mean. Most of these buildings are not finished yet so the benefits aren't being felt, but the next few years are going to be very exciting for Macedonia and the rest of the Balkan countries I think. Now is probably a good time to buy property or open a business there too, while the prices are still relatively low.

No problem Demosthenes, I'm just happy to see Macedonia finally prospering somewhat. Hopefully it's not just on loans that the country will never be able to pay off.

That bank building in the city square is also rising. Up to three levels built now and the underground two, so five storeys built.

The roof is being installed on the theater building. And the same thing with the Museum right next to it.

Electronic signs for the buses in Skopje. Very modern. We only just got them recently in Australia even.

I think the greatest thing is that Skopie is rebuilding the tower. Thats what can bring tourists, not some boring modern buildings you have anywhere. I think in Bulgaria we must totally rebuild Zarevez in Turnovo and the castle in Preslav for example, it would be amazing. Not that I am against modern buildings, but you know, visitors go in Rome to see Colloseo, not their latest mall. Of course you have to have modern malls too.

I agree ioan. The older buildings are what makes each country unique and gives character. I love the look of Prague for example (from the pictures I've seen). If all everyone ever built was brand new skyscrapers, then it would be pretty boring and not very original.
I watched a documentary about Bulgaria recently and they were talking about how little such old castles and churches are looked after in Bulgaria and how gypsy looters dig up old treasures and sell them to western museums. Such a shame and I hope Bulgaria starts looking after it's heritage.
