I need to say this: I love Turkey and the Turks. A big thanks to Janissary aka Jenny aka Vizier of Oz and Desire for creating this easy-going forum where everyone can express themselves without fear of retribution. I'll have to admit that I have skeptical about Turkey and Turks: first, when I was a kid, i was taught about the many wars that we waged against the Ottomans. I was not taught to hate and it was never about that...but I was skeptical. Then as I researched on the subkects of history I got somehow pissy about Mehmed II and his campaigns...and his broken promises.
But that somehow didn't change the fact that the Turks that I met, no matter where and in what circumstances, were great and a warm people. As a Romanian, unlike Albanians and Bosniaks, I don't feel any loyalty towards Turkey--you didn't do us any political favor to want me to call you my brother or sister. So my love for Turkey derives from an experience of more than 15 years:--in real life and also in this forum. I'm not the only Romanian in my assertment; for instance, even AofG, our old patriotic member, was impressed with Turks. He said that Turks had great confidence in their identity, yet they remained open to ideas without compromising their reason: They were not overly nationalistic. Yes, nationalistic in the idea of being a Turk, but never in the philosophy of bloodlines.
Regardless of what other members in this forum may say of you, it is my outmost belief that Turkey produces goodhearted people: Turks and Kurds alike. It lies in your nature to be good to people. If anything would put that in doubt, it would be due to politics.
As an old member of Illyria and from reading a lot of posts, I sensed that Desire had some reservations about Romanians. It must be the British side spooking around. On the other hand, I also had some disagreements with Jenny of Oz--that we eventually overcame. But if we ignore those tiny details, we got a bunch of goodhearted and loving people (Donnie the Albanian included) that no political or historical disagreement can deny. Now, before I end this post, I want to underscore that I didn't make this post to tease our forum rivals. That would in turn decrease the seriousness of my message and although it would be humorous, it would make it less credible. I made this post because I wanted to leave no doubt about the love that I have towards Turkey and Turks in general.
Continue being what you are.
