I've never heard of Hussars.
Yes,I think their outfits are amazing, but can you imagining doing physical activities with them on? That looks like a nightmare to me.It looks heavy.

but can you imagining doing physical activities with them on? That looks like a nightmare to me.It looks heavy. Looks like it's only a couple of brackets with feathers which would be a fraction of the weight of the rest of the uniform. Any gain in weight might even be outweighed by the benefits of making attack from behind more difficult. I don't know though... just using my imagination.

Most armor back then in the medevil days were heavy. But in this case its effectiveness was proven in battle. The Hussars were undefeated for 150 yrs more or less !. Not too shabby if you ask me. We also gave the Turks a run for their money ;D

Hmm, back in middle ages Polish lancers were light cavalry, and I think this is no exception. If you compare them to French gendarmes they look indeed light

;D ;D Say what? Serbs and cavalry? Its like crab and flying. Chalkedon - the last clip you show has absolutely nothing to do with the Hussars. Steppe people are not Polish. This clip is from the last movie for King Arthur. And by the way - if you look at Tristan you'll see how the Bulgars looked and fought that time . The Sarmatians gave this heavy cavalry to everybody. Parthians had it, Persians, Bulgars, Hungarians, Avars, Khazars...What Serbs are you mentioning here?! At the time the heavy Sarmatian riders fought there were not even people called Serbs or Poles. It's interesting to know that the Polish Zlachta (their nobility) actually considered themselves direct descendants of the Royal Sarmatians ;D.

Also Serbs as they were first mentioned in history by Pliny were perceived as part of Sarmatians (1800 years ago) living in Caucasus region. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Serboi

;D AAdmin - if you admit that Serbs are descendants of Sarmatians - its ok. I will agree with you that Hussars are Serbs' invention (or Sarmatian - same thing ;D). Let's see what Srbobran will say about your theory. By the way - it's quite strange for me that you support Sarmatian origin of Serbs and in the same time you insult Bulgarians of being Turkics . I assure you we have much more in common with Sarmatians than the Serbs do. AND - I have the feeling that this Serb heavy cavalry thing (if we assume your above theory wrong for Serb origin) was not actually brought by the Sarmatian Serbs but by the Byzantines' Cataphracts - which cataphracts were actually borrowed from where? - Sarmatians. And the Serbs borrowed it from the Byzies. And the Poles from the Serbs. That's more logical I think. You know why? Because Serbs were NEVER EVER mentioned or noted for their cavalry. Not up to their fall to the Ottomans. That's the end of 14th century man! That would mean they borrowed this cavalry from somewhere else. And since their tongue was so deep in Byzies as.s for centuries I think they took this from them.

;D You didn't gave us any alphabet - you good hearted Mother Teresa type of Greek ;D. We made it ourselves. Using yours as base. But you yourself took yours from the Phoenicians. So its not any gift nor stealing.
For orthodoxy - we were forced to accept it. Otherwise we would be crushed by East and West powers. That led to our decline as a military force - our nomad warrior way of life slowly began to dissappear. That's not a gift also.
What other many things you say?
As for the poor Serbs - these wannabees always wanted to take the place of Bulgaria as a leading factor in the Balkans. They were puppets in Byzantine hands. Whenever our armies marched against you these Serbs stabbed us. That's why I say their tongue was in this delicate position.
Doesn't matter - say something about Hussars. The theme is about them. We swayed too much aside.

Hey Patrinos ;D! Check how many times Bulgaria and Byzantines were at war and how many times at peace - then you'll understand if it was our tongue or our third leg in your as.s ;D!
Just kiddin mate ;D! No offence to you - you are good guy.

About the Hussaria - I always admired these guys. The Polish were quite an effective force that time. However I can't understand the type of the face defence. This looks like only decoration. If a mace hits you at the face this small face protection will make the damage even greater since it doesn't have any stable base and any points to distribute the blow evenly around the cask. Strange design.

I think it served the purpose of minimal protecton from flying debris on the battlefield ..charging into your enemy with lances would inevitably snap those lances and splinters would fly directly in front of you also bone fragments etc
Plus you would look bad azz to the enemy with it down over your face.

Just kiddin mate ;D! No offence to you - you are good guy. Ok you took a land that was almost indifferent for us, a Greek inhabitant of Korinthos, Konstantinoupolis or Smyrni, for example, just wanted a barbarian neighbor, heavily influenced by our way of life, dogma, system etc to have a break from the continuous other barbarian attacks from north. Since we held our positions, politically and physically, in the major seaside Greek centers, on the today Bulgarian coast to Black sea, and hinterland centers like Philippoupolis we were ok. And since you had a dick continuously in your ass(no offense, just kiddin brat...) when you were trying to capture Thessaloniki its fine for me... And the alphabet was given by the Thessalonicean guys...don't you know that? And bring me a Phoenician in this forum to tease me for giving us our alphabet... (actually Phoenicians(with almost zero contribution to the human civilization) didn't invent the alphabet as symbols representing vowels and consonants, this is Greek invention, after spreading to "Latins" and "Slavs". You said it yourself. You would have been crushed by us or Latins... and Bulgarians would be one more nomadic tribe that passed and pillaged Balkans, like Cumans, Pechenegs, Avars, Goths etc etc. Byzantion formed your architecture, your political system, your alphabet, your art, what literature you've produced, many aspects of your everyday life .
