Skull cap... and yes they are very typical in ancient cultures. In the odyssey there is a description of a shepherd on Odysseus island who wore a "sheep skin skull cap".

in my village common sense evaluation I would say that these were caps that were used as padding under their helmets ......and when warriors retired they still wore the caps as a sign of being an ex warrior and the deserved respect just like veterans of today wear their pins and fatigue caps and jackets or belt buckles ....
the main thing is that us Pelasgo-Illyro-Albs still keep tradition and others dont bcs they are not from that era of history or from other lands east .... and make traditions as needed ;D

We find qeleshe in Etruscan, Ancient "Greek" pictures/ statues, in EID MAR - An Ancient Roman Coin that Commemorates the Assassination of Caesar, in Ancient Illyrian sculptures, etc In those archaeological discoveries is very visible the presence of qeleshe covering the heads of some ancient heroes. So isn't possible to be muslum lol!

What I am saying is you adopted a style... that others around you stopped using... a long time ago...... get over it.... it means nothing... ESXUSE ME??? WE ADOPTED??? YOU ARE KIDDING!!! How it could be adopted when it was used by illyrians! There are findings of illyrian terracota from Durrah of 3 century BC, Tomb Stone of 2-3 century AD that rappresent mens with scull caps and fustanella /kilt etc.. Latins called it ; 'Pileus Libertatis', or 'Cap of Liberty (Freedom) GUESS WHAT THE ILLYRIANS WERE FREE TRIBES, NOT SLAVES!!! It was a symbol of freedom for the Romans (1). It is depicted on a coin of Brutus, struck in Macedonia, after the assasination of Julius Cesar (2), as well as on a number of other Roman coins struck under various Imperators, to name Caligula (3). In eighteenth century 'Plisi i Lirise' was also used as an American national symbol of freedom, and depicted on a number of American coins, too (4). However, considering that Etruscans were not a Latin people, the origin of the cap must be sought elsewhere. It must be noted that 'Pileus Libertatis' is also known by the name 'Phrygian Cap' (5). Phrygia was an ancient kingdom situated in what is today Western Turkey, with the ancient Troy being a city of Phrygia. Likewise the majority of historians believe that Etruscans too originated in Western Turkey, and were often called by ancient historians Pelasgian !!! Wilkes in hes work 'illyrians' 1992:" A connection between the language of the ancient Phrygians of Asia Minor and the Illyrians has also been made and it is believed that the ancient Illyri-Thraco tribe, the Bryges,(once inhabitants of Macedon and Thrace) were one and the same people'(Wilkes1992:145)" 'Phrygians constituted the main body of the population of the greater part of Thrace, Macedonia, and Illyricum' (p.622) William Smith & Mahmoud Saba - Dictionary of Greek and Roman Geography 1857 Today, 'Pileus Liberatis' or 'Phrygian Cap' survives in the culture of the Albanians, still being worn by Albanian people, as a national cap. THIS IS CALLED CONTINUITY, NOT ADOPTION!! PS: My own personal DNA is Illyro-Celtic and I am Albanian!!

Give it up Kanaris. The plis or qeleshe is a hat worn by both Christian and Muslim Albanians. If it was a Muslim import, then why did the Catholics wear it too? And the Orthodox? Or even the Arbëresh in Sicily and Calabria who in their flight to Italy didn't have the time to adopt Muslim customs.
Besides, the Turks themselves didn't wear these types of hats ... they wore the fez.
