Observations:
I have been reading these forums and perception with time becomes crystallized. It affects just about any topic. I have seen many well read people, perhaps even highly intelligent but with one major flaw. This flaw is perhaps the ultimate flaw of a modern crude Balkanoid character.
The flaw is heightened emotions.
If one is highly intelligent but incapable or unwilling to suppress their own emotions then how intelligent can they really be. Such emotions can manifest themselves in a more heightened state through such topics such as religion, nationalism and even sports. It is correlated to the amount of fanaticism.
Such heightened emotional state borders lunacy, which to me is a emotion in its pure form - void of any logic. Fact that no two crazy individuals think alike is a proof of lack of logic on their parts. Case appears to be a unique quality of ever changing emotional frequency states that such individual encounters (sometimes even from moment to moment). They increase to a level where logic appears to be effectively suppressed.
"Know thyself"
This ancient Hellenic saying I believe best deals with this issue. To know oneself is to know ones owns limitations. It is ultimately not to be guided by emotions (desires/wants) but by necessity (needs). It is about being grounded versus being emotionally volatile. Dangers of not knowing owns limitations is eventual estrangement from everyday world and inability to perceive it for what it is.

Conclusion: Just about everything (perhaps even everything) in human affairs boils down to either emotion (ex. religion, nationalism, sports, relationships, arts etc) or logic (ex. science, inventions, wisdom etc) and some might be a cross between. These two encompass perhaps entire human experience. Emotions are how people are enslaved and unable to be in true control of their lives. Logic is how people are liberated and capable of greatness in various forms. Fact that in any given country no more then several percent of its people rule remainder is a testament that this is the percentage of logically more evolved humans beings (and I firmly believe this encompasses the inventor/brain segment of the population) .
