Music is the best thing. Rock, pop, dance, ethno I like it all. I was like a metal head (Metalica, Pantera, Megadeth) when I was a teenager and even now that stuff is some of the best rock music you will ever hear compared to anything that's come out since. I've bought a few albums that have stayed in my car for extended periods of time. Jimmi Hendrix was a revelation. He got me into rock. Loved his stuff. Faith No More's Angel Dust album that stayed on forever. Jewel Kitcher is my most favourite female artist of all time. Nick Cave is legendary as well... There's heaps of music I listen to. I bought a guiter once but realised soon my hand were a too chunky. I just couldn't do it. I'm still hoping I might start playing the drums some day now. Hey Arsenije,
There was a Serbian song you posted a while ago and the song was about fighting the Turks and Albanians in Kosova. Thats the only part I remembered. Can you post a link of it?

Yeah man it's called Zali Zare. It's a southern Serbia Torlak song. I mention that because the language is not standard Serbian and it really gives a southern Serb vibe to me. They even look like they're from southern Serbia to me. Could even be FYROMians. But it's a tip top song.
An old Serbian love song from the late 19th century from a town in Serbia called "Vranje", beautifully performed by the group Kulin Ban.
Kulin Ban - Zali Zare
Or drunk Serb kids singing it haha
The song is about a young man, leaving his family and his beloved (Zare) to go off to become a freedom fighter (kumit) and battle the Ottoman Turks and their Albanian allies (the Arnauts). He knows that he will not likely return alive.
Translation (Courtesy of Mirjana Petrovic):
Be sad, Zare, we should both be sad for we are going to part You will part from me and I from you, I will go far away. I will go far away, far away to white Vranje I will join kumits, I will be a young kumit.
Then I will take a royal sabre and all the royal weapons and I will go all the way to Pcinja, all the way to Pcinja Presev-Kaza I will cross the water of Vardar river, the huge Vardar river I will fight those Turks, those Turk Arnauts.
Be sad, cry, we should both be sad when the Sun rises, when the Sun rises, bethink it is from God, you should know then that this is my, this is my white face you should know then that this is my, this is my bright face.
When the wind starts blowing bethink it is from God, then you say that this is my, this is my gentle soul. When the dew is forming you bethink it is from God, then you say that these are my, these are my small tears.

Thanks man, I probably shouldn't like the song lol but I like the way it's sang. I'm a sucker for traditional songs (mostly in Albanian) and I hate the post modern crap (especially Tallava music or I think you guys refer to it as Turbofolk.) I do like a few Albanian rap songs that are catchy. For the purposes of the thread, here are some traditional Albanian songs I like: www.dedi24.com/mp3player.php?fileid=33639&ext=.mp3 (I especially love the last one)

Arsenije's song reminded me about an Aromanian song "La valea di Ianina" (At the valley of Iannina) i think Iannina it's a place in Greece now. In short it's about a guy assassinated by an Albanian. Those Aromanians immigrants that came in Romania in the XIXth century still have much of the folklore from their homeland. Funny that the reputation of Albanians endured in their folklore. You can see the Albanian killer at 2:49.

Oh nice song. Sounds similar to songs you would hear in Southern Albanian. I could of done without the bald guy speaking, but other than that I liked the song. Can you translate the lyrics? I found this off of google.
PS:
I've never seen that Albanian dress before. Maybe one of the ALbanians more knowledgeable would know better on this issue.

I'm not sure about some of the words but most of it it's almost the same as in Romanian language.
My translation attempt:
At the valley of Ianina, (lea manolea) at the vally of Ianina there a girl was lamenting me, the valley was weeping. (cama) here in the valley so i can ask you of Ianina, Ianina (hoara) of thieves/bandits, not of thieves but Albanians, they killed her lover, her lover a (prot) captain killed by an yatagan.
In the brackets the words i don't understand.
About the clothes of the Albanian, it's clear they didn't made a research about it.
