Serbia invaded with what was called Teritorialna obramba ,eyebrows of all the republics went up
Wrong again the teritorial defense force was Slovenia's force which retook all the posts in a few days because there was massive confusion with the JNA conscripts and a refusal to believe that the orders they where recieving where actulay legitimate.

I see you have now added more to your initial statement You couldn't imagine all the original JNA troops that fled from bases all over Yugoslavia .Yes i could And for future reference remember that Serbia alone was not Yugoslavia all by itself. There is more to this than just that. Also don't forget the misuse of the revolving presidency by Serbia. Needs a complete answer So as i have said open this topic in the appropriate sub forum and I will answer your questions and help you disregard dinner tble politics.

Do you understand that JNA troops in Slovenia were from different areas of Yugoslavia .
Usually JNA soilders were always stationed in republics that were not their own .
JNA solders from all over Yugoslavia went AWOL and headed back home
"a refusal to believe that the orders they where recieving where actulay legitimate."
YES ...of Serbia being sly with the removal of Teritorialna obramba and sucking up all military equipment from all other republics

Umm do you understand that the JNA conscripts as a whole where from all areas of Jugoslavia ?
Croats,Serbs, Montenegrins,Slovenes etc etc
Usually JNA soilders were always stationed in republics that were not their own .
JNA solders from all over Yugoslavia went AWOL and headed back home
I already pointed out that I know this but the timeline that you are speaking about is wrong there where still Slovenian conscripts in the JNA that is why the teritorial defense was able to capture all the border posts in a few days as noone could believe what they where hearing there was massive confusion.
and its Odbrana not Obramba

Glad you want to play along . Class in session ! "Who did Serbia invade ?" Slovenia first (and how foolish it was ) next question please ,or is it my turn ? come on bud just you and me ![:D](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/grin.png) Time for your history lesson. Cast your mind back to the summer of 1990, Stipe Mesic (a Croat) was the President of Yugoslavia at that point in time. He along with the Slovenian group and the Croatian group walked out of parliament. This then triggered a power vaccum. At this point in time, Slovenia, illegally declared independance because if you have bothered to read the Yugoslav constitution of the time, you would have discovered that they could have broken away but only under the terms of the constitution. Just to go back a little, Mesic was the supreme commander of the JNA, not Milosevic or Tudjman or any other premier/president of the constituant republics. Now because of the power vaccum that was created by Mesic, the Genereals of the JNA did the one and only thing they could, and that was to follow the constitution which stated that they had to defend ALL the borders of Yugoslavia. Milosevic did not become president of Yugoslavia until at least 3-4 years down the track.

The Slovenes majority voted for divorce and they try to force love .

I was young and dumb and all I had on my mind was Skirt and beer so to tell you the truth I really did not care what was going on I was traveling with a gypsy folk band and was having a ball I was in Novi Sad when the first incling that things where really serious and it was leading to War, the mass demonstration in Croatia is what brought a lot of us back to earth, even though events before this where lining up and where clearly leading to War people just refused to believe it could come to this again. I remember bieng very hung over one morning and sitting outside when 2 jets came screaming across the sky and then 3 more went by (Jug Jets not Nato) it was sort of a awakening for me and at that time I knew it was going to explode so that day I packed and went home to Nis but I first went to Pancevo my Aunt lives there and picked up my pistol as the uncertanty was very real and I did not trust anyone, and things unfolded from there.

The Slovenes majority voted for divorce and they try to force love . By early & mid 1990's who were the JNA ? In 1990, I travelled to Jugoslavija twice. Once during the winter and one more time in summer. Given your reply, I would have to say that you were either 10 yourself or were just born when the whole thing turned to nuts. By the way, I went one more time to Croatia in 1994. So I was there just before things turned to crap and went back in the middle of the crap. In 1990, I remember vivadly watching a news program that showed the Slovenians walking out of parliament, because they didn't want to play by the rules, they refused to allow the constitution to play out as it should have. No one forced anything upon them except for the fact that they had to follow the constitution that they had voted for previously. They knew that doing what they did would bring about a crisis. Whats fair about that. I do not agree that the breakup was iminent in 1981. There is no proof of that. No one knew until 1991 that the break up was iminent. Even in 1990, there was no talk of a serious breakup. So I ask you, where are you getting your info from, the net?
