That is true, serbs even successfully assimilated some small percentage of roma gypsies who became serbianised, something which other neighbouring countries failed to do. Its quite obvious that serbs are very good at assimilating, no doubt about that Novi.

^ One other point, why arn't the Aromanians of Albania completely Albanianised? Majority of them are, and for those who aren't, they generally came in Albania in late 18th-19th century, some of them even in 20th century! So they decided to take refugee in Albania, why?

I also know with the Bulgars, their leading Tartar element and their subjugated Slavic subjects were segregated from each other up until the 10th century (per Murko's statement). What is really interesting there were only approximately 50,000 Bulgars when they arrived and formed their first Abode (681AD Nth Bulgaria). The reason l suspect it took longer (assimilation of Vlachs) was primarily due to numbers and a stronger resistance. In the case of Albanians, if we assume, they were the decendants of Illyrians, then, how did they manage to one, avoid Romanisation post devastation, and secondly avoid complete slavicisation, with such a minimal size (1,000 souls against 1,000,000 souls)? PS We could say that everybody is not originally indigenous to their current area, i.e, homeland of I.E speakers is Southern Russia! Actually, majority of our vocabulary comes from Latin, so to say that we avoided romanization isn't really correct. We weren't fully romanized, but to a certain extent, we were. Slavic languages had less influence than Latin, but they still had an influence on Albanian. But the answer would be isolation: if we look at the map of Slavic toponymy in Albania, there are some regions where there's nearly no Slavic toponyms, and those are the most isolated regions of Albania. There is the answer I think... As for the easy conquest... remember majority of the Balkans population had fled in mountains or to the sea coast because the empire hadn't any strong army that could protect them. Latin influence is what one considers to be VULGAR Latin, i.e, Vlacho latin. Isolation would suggest, no contact! There was no isolation Shejtani, in fact, there were many of them, post 1081AD! Again Shejtani, you mention fleeing to the Mountains or Sea, however in the Albanian tang, most of your mountainous vocab and Maritime lexicons directly were borrowed and Albanianised from local Slavs!

Again Shejtani, you mention fleeing to the Mountains or Sea, however in the Albanian tang, most of your mountainous vocab and Maritime lexicons directly were borrowed and Albanianised from local Slavs! They can point out, for example, that the Albanian names for the fauna and flora of the high mountain regions are purely Albanian, while the low-altitude vocabulary borrows heavily from Slav; the words for ploughing are mainly Slav, and so are many words for weaving, masonry and milling. Much of the vocabulary of medieval government and society is also Slav-based. [33] This strongly suggests that the early Albanians led a mainly pastoral life in mountainous regions, before settling in lowland areas after the Slavs had extended their culture and rule. And the evidence of place-names shows that Albanian-Slav contacts in the northern Albanian region must have happened before 900 at the latest: a vowel-shift in the Slav language took place by the end of the ninth century, and some Albanian borrowings from Slav preserve the pre-shift form of the vowel. The Slav loans in Albanian suggest that contacts between two populations took place when Albanian dwelt in forests 600–900 metres above sea level.

And why don't you quote the whole passage you deceiving village idiot inbred fuck fest?
The Albanian language, which belongs to the Indo-European group, has a distinctive vocabulary, morphology and phonetic rules which have engaged the attention of many philologists, of whom several have confidently proclaimed its origin from ancient Illyrian. In the Albanian vocabulary it is possible to detect something of the physical, social and economic conditions prevailing at the time of its formation, through the evidence of borrowing from other languages, including Latin and Slav. Those from the former relate to city-life, family structure, agriculture, plants and fruits of the plains and marshlands.
The smaller number of Slav loans relate to dwellings, agriculture and cattle-rearing. Plant names of Slav origin suggest that contacts took place when Albanians dwelt in the forest zone between 600 and 900 meters in altitude, while the words relating to the products of higher altitudes, including milk, are Albanian. This implies a pattern of seasonal movement between pastures, similar to that recorded for the Dalmatian MavroVlachs who journeyed to the Adriatic towns with cheese and wool to exchange for the invaluable salt.
This pattern of existence explains the late entry of the Albanians in the historical record, during the years 1040 to 1080, when Arbanites are found serving in the imperial army. If the Komani-Kruja cemeteries represent a Romanized Christian population bordered by new Slav settlements on the north and south, then the ancestors of the historical Albanians were pastoral communities on the higher ground behind the plains. The tripartite linguistic division of the area has been recognized in some late medieval documents relating to the Shkoder region.
If these forums were a prison, you'd be my prison bitch by now whose teeth I smashed with a lead pipe so you could give me blowjobs without biting.
