The slavs are a lovely people, they have such a great sense of unity and there's so many of them. Albanians are low in numbers and there are huge divisions.

If Macedonians are Serbs, then why is the Macedonian language so close to Bulgarian, and why are so many Macedonian names the same as Bulgarian names?
I am wondering, could it not be possible that Macedonians share roots to both? I guess I just don't understand a lot of the Balkan issues regarding origins and differences. Every one is quick to accuse some one of stealing their heritage and so on. I would love to see the Balkans all of them get a long better!

I gathered as much, more political then any thing else. I have no problem being proud and happy of my heritage where ever it takes me. I'm proud of any Serbian AND Bulgarian roots. I would love to see us get beyond any differences and focus on what we have in common instead.

can u explain what you mean? I don't understand. Thx yugoslavia... ring tringtring Sorry still not understanding what you mean. My take on it is pretty simple. Obviously by language and names, most Macedonians are Bulgarian. I'm not sure to what extent there is a Serbian connection, but certainly do not dismiss that. As for any Greek connections, I see almost zero. I was born in Bitola came to USA when I was young so was spared of the political crap involved. I think a lot of Macedonians deny their connections to Bulgaria and Serbia because they want to be unique. Nothing wrong with wanting to be unique. They can be unique and still have other roots. I just don't see a strong case for trying to connect to ancient Macedonia. Any role played in that was minor. Why they want to share that with the Greeks is beyond me. I am more proud of my Bulgarian connection! I'm just not getting the Serbian connection here.

They don't need any Greek roots for the land. Macedonia is actually part of Bulgaria. I'm just not seeing any Serbian connection here other then political.
