Dimitrov: We are not giving up on the Macedonian language and identity
Due to the Macedonian language and Macedonian history, Bulgaria has decided to block the start of Northern
Macedonia's accession talks with the European Union, which were due to begin in December. This issue was
supposed to be a topic of bilateral talks, but has now been raised to the European level. In an exclusive
interview for H1, the Deputy Prime Minister of the Government of Northern Macedonia for European Affairs,
Nikola Dimitrov, reveals the background of these requests and how he views the future of the European
process of Northern Macedonia and the rest of the region.

NM PM Zoran Zaev is preparing to officially reveal that he is accepting all Bulgarian demands. Looks like they'll be giving away their macedonian language (sic) one of Bulgarians demands is that they share a common language.
Zaev will also declare that North Macedonia and Bulgaria have a “common history” and will give up the exclusive “Macedonian” right to historic figures such as Krste Petkov Misirkov, Goce Delcev and several other key figures. All this to join the E.U otherwise Bulgaria will veto their admission to the E.U.

Except their language is really not the same.

The old guy does not want to be connected with Bulgaria, first. 2nd dont be fooled by the similarity of the languages, my bosnian wife spent about 30 mins talking politics with a guy in Sofia who was from Kumanovo. Ok, he might have used a little Serbian as well, but the point is, she could even talk with local Bulgarians, not such lengthy convos, but surely a simple convo like the one you posted.

One may argue that Bosnian, Serbian, Croatian, and Montenegrin are the same language, because 98% of the words are the same. But North Macedonian and Bulgarian aren't because less than 80% of the words are the same. Culturally Bulgarians and North Macedonians are different too. North Macedonians are culturally more like Serbs, while their language is only a little bit grammatically closer to Bulgarian, but the dictionary is clearly closer to Serbian. That's all I'm trying to say.

Fully agree.
Also interesting to note that I have found even similarities in speech between certain everyday ways (may dare to call
them old or even archaic words used by elders in villages) used by North Macedonians and Serbian speakers from Montenegro/Hercegovina region.
Also considering Bulgars (Vlgars) were initially a Turkic tribe .. most likekly named after Volga river .. where even today they
have Bulgars living who speak Turkic language... then speaking a SLAVIC language to prove someone belongs
to a nation whose name is of Turkic origin is without rationale to me.
