yes, they should. moldova is part of romanian culture and history. as far as i know moldovans do agree they are romanians, unlike the macedonians that do not agree that they are bulgarians. i know that moldova voted against unity. i wonder why. dont they want to be in eu?

Well if it is an union, it will have to be without Transnistria. But I am not for an union at all costs however, only if it is very beneficial to both countries. I would be happy enough if they were less antagonistic towards us and I honestly thing the first step is to build cordial relations first of all.
Well there was a strong pro-Romanian movement in Moldova in 1988. But Romania let them down (it wasn't in a good state in the early 1990s anyway), and they have paid quite a big price for their pro-Romanian stance: 2 civil wars and a worsening economy (in 1998 Moldova's economic situation was in a better state than Romania's). And of course during this time pro-Russian forces got stronger.
But yes: I believe that first and foremost, we must build up cordial relations with them and then we will see after that. In the past I was very proud and I thought to myself: how could they not want to be with us. But then after thinking more it occured to me. This is what becoming a humble person does to you, hence I am the ultimate "humble man". ;D

If an immediate union were to occur it would be like the German reunification and Moldava will become like the east, an economic wasteland with no future and a shrinking population while at the same time Romania will spend billions in Moldova that will go to waste. I have read that Romanian reunification would have an immediate cost of $30-$35 billion (http://www.cotidianul.ro/index.php?id=7252&art=18305&cHash=a8395322ca)

It's true Radovic, it costs about $30-35 BN, but taking into account that our national budget for year 2007 was about $70-75 bn we can afford such a unification. Anyway, those $30-35 bn were for 10 years costs.

Anyway, those $30-35 bn were for 10 years costs. I think that it would go over budget. Money transfers from West Germany to East Germany were supposed to be 200 billion over 10 years in the end they cost over a trillion over 15 years and in some ways still ongoing.

With the actual goverment of Romania? So they give them to be robed by some US companies/austrian companies as they did with romanians from Romania? Is better for them to stay independent.
