Reading books & achieving intellectuality. Linked?
How important is it to read books on literature and philosophy? Can one achieve a high-enough intellectuality without reading on these subjects?
How about posing as being intellectual? Can one do that, and if so, how can we see through their superficiality?

Pierre Baynard, 52, specialises in the link between literature and psychoanalysis, and says it is perfectly possible to bluff your way through a book that you have never read — especially if that conversation happens to be taking place with someone else who also hasn’t read it. All of which just goes to confirm what I’ve always thought about French academics, which is that mostly they are oversubsidised frauds. entertainment.timesonline.co.uk/tol/arts_and_entertainment/books/article1334436.ece

Definitely reading books trains your intellectuality and imagination. You got to train your brain constantly the same way as we do with our body.
You loose what you don't use.
Now the important thing is we should delete the junk infos that keep taking our precious memory space and that is by reading a lot.

Not just reading books would help you become more intellectual but also learning new words, increasing your vocabulary. There also connection between music and reading, learning new instruments like piano will help you being better in math for example.

Anyone can read a book, understanding it and the way you interpret it to others is another thing... especially with books based on history.
I used to read a lot of books..but granted I haven't read much as of lately... my interests were mainly in science fiction.. and war novels...
