I checked out my Vegeta again, and naturally it's halal and has been for a long time. Is this some kind of new certification or something ?

^^^I know it's strange as I looked at my packet again and it says "no meat content"; however there is a halal certification on it for some reason. Go figure?
I guess what is more important is that the other Podravka items such as canned meat and so on are halal.

Vegeta has always been popular in the kitches of the people from the former yugoslavia ... Croat, serb, slovenian, and macedonian alike.
Vegeta has been given super-brand status in both Poland and Russia, and is exported to almost every country under the sun.
It is also a regular sponsor of the Australia tennis circuit and has made its way into the kitches of regular Aussies. This success can be contributed to the fact that the product is advertised on Australian tv (Brand power commercials), makes a regular appearance in the Womens Day magazine and has moved from the continental aisle to the mainsteam one of every major supermarket in the country.
Not one other product from the former yugoslavia can boast a similar feat.

Actually my mother never used to stock it in her kitchen whilst it was a product "made in Yugoslavia"; as they were boycotting everything Yugoslav. I got her onto to it a few years back. ;D

^^ I'm like that today but in regards to other products not made by Croatian companies. Just the other day my old man mistakenly brought home 'caj od kamilice' from a 'foreign' neighbouring country who shall remain unnamed. Well lets just say it didnt last long ... i made him take it back and replace it with the PODRAVKA equivelent. Nothing beats Hrvatska Kvaliteta!

Some additives (those "E"s with a number) are made from pig fat and stuff like that.

They must be deceiving us then when they say no animal content; when they really should say boldly that there are additives which I had always though there were anyway.
