Congrats Croatia. According to the [The Daily Telegraph] The British economy would lose as much as £1bn if England fail to reach Euro 2008.

Yeah I have heard that too. It is the alcohol sales, england shirt sales and player autobiographies which will be hardest hit.

Congratulations. Quite strong for Croatia to beat England in their home ground despite of having already qualified. The English must be p*ssed. But I would have prefered them over the Russians anytime.

Congrats Croatia. According to the [The Daily Telegraph] The British economy would lose as much as £1bn if England fail to reach Euro 2008. Well it is more like £1.5bn. But let's look at who misses out: Alcohol sales: £200-250million FA lose their england associated memorabilia and match revenue: £100-150million (+ the sacking of McClaren £5million) Wags cannot spend as much money on shoes and diamond bracelets: £100-150million Footballers won't sell autobiographies: £50million Umbro lose shirt sales and flag sales: £100million Cheap and tacky kebab takeaways:£70-120million Oh yeah, and apparently productivity will go down because people will not be as motivated to work: unspecified amount. But what they're forgetting of course local authorities will save money because England fans won't puke up/ piss everywhere and vandalise their town centres, as well as reductions to hospital admissions! On top of this Austrian & Swiss retailers will be rejoicing however, as English hooligans won't go on a rampage and smash up their shops. ;D Well here is an article which gives more details about it, but do read the comments at the end, as they show why you have to take this news with a pinch of salt: news.scotsman.com/uk.cfm?id=1836782007

Well, I am glad that England are out, because they still expected to qualify just before the match, and the punters were saying how they'll beat Croatia and qualify. I believe that the English media also said that no Croatian player is good enough to start in the England side! However I am not so glad about Russia qualifying, as they also do not deserve to qualify, and undoubtably will be one of the weakest teams there. There are better teams which do deserve to qualify more than Russia, and they are: Scotland Ukraine Bulgaria Norway Ireland to name but a few! But that is just the luck of the draw!
