Powerful bomb blast near Bujanovac MUP 7 June 2008 The scene of the blast (FoNet)
A police vehicle exploded in front of police headquarters in Bujanovac last night, MUP has confirmed.
No-one was injured in the blast. Meanwhile, MUP's elite Žandarmerija (Gendarmerie) deployed in the area has been put on heightened alert.
A team of special investigators was at the scene today. Early reports say that a powerful device was either planted under the police van, or thrown at it.
According to an earlier statement from the police spokesman in Vranje, Dragan Stamenkoviæ, nobody was injured in the explosion, although there had been considerable material damage.
He said that more details about the incident would be known later in the day.
According to eye-witness reports, parts of the van landed some 100 meters away from the scene of the explosion, in the police headquarters' courtyard.
Some debris also fell next to the OSCE office, located at least 50 meters from the police station.
Coordinating Center for Southern Serbia said that there were "at the moment no indications" as to the perpetrators of the attack.
Meantime, Gendarmerie officers in and around Bujanovac and Preševo are operating under elevated alert rules, in order to make sure all residents of the area feel safe, reports said.
Similar cases occurred until 2000, when explosive devices were taped onto police vehicles in the field.
The Bujanovac, Preševo and Medveða municipalities and their surroundings in southern Serbia are home to the largest ethnic Albanian community in Serbia outside of Kosovo.
In the wake of the 1999 war in the province, an offshoot of the so-called Kosovo Liberation Army (KLA), known as UCPMB, continued with attacks on Serbian police and civilians, killing over a dozen.
They also attacked international observers, mostly using the Army and MUP-free buffer zone between Kosovo and central Serbia as their base.
An internationally brokered ceasefire took effect in 2001, after which Serbian security forces returned to the area, known as the Ground Safety Zone.

Only he who is born a traitor averts from the struggle. He who is brave, is not daunted - but falls a martyr to the cause.

Yep, the truth hurts doesn't it. Serbs are taught at elementary levels to build IED's and have taught the Arabs of this innovative way of going to guerrilla war. Interesting how when the Albanians or any of the other national groups of yugoslavia fought off the Serbs, not one report of a roadside bomb killing Serbs fighters or destroying Serb trucks or tanks. But there were tons of reports of Serbian mines and booby traps killing innocent returning civilians in all the republics after their wars with Serbs.
BTW, when Serb tanks, planes, helicopters and other military vehicles were destroyed by the Albanians and others in their wars, these fighters took on the JNA Serbian tanks head on with their tank busting missiles. Not like cowards with IEDs.

Yep, the truth hurts doesn't it. Serbs are taught at elementary levels to build IUD's and have taught the Arabs of this innovative way of going to guerrilla war. This is very idiotic. Given that military training and bomb making is not a course for elementary sudents in schools in Serbia or anywhere in Europe. It's funny you provide no source for such an absurd claim. Not only that but given that there is no history of Serbs being involved in a guerilla war post-WWII, your claim is abusrd since a knowledge of improvized explosives go hand in hand with guerill warfare. Absurd. Muhajedin who thought for Bosnia in the 90s used improvised bombs and Albnaians used improvises bombs agianst Serbs. Most notablly in attacks after UNMIK came in. Also. If you aren't aware your people used IUD's in FYROM and so did the UCPMB in southern Serbia. Do you even know what an IUD is. An IUD is an improvised intrauterine device (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/IUD). It is a form of birth control, something Albanians should learn.Furthermore. Mines and booby traps are not improvized bombs, given that such goods are made from materials/devices not intended for explosives. A mine and bobby trap are manufacured explosives. Not only that but if you were aware of facts you'd know all sides used mines -- Bosniaks using them the least. The greatest umber of JNA/Serb tanks were destroyed by land mines, then by NATO bombs. Then rockets fired by Croats or Bosniaks. Plus, albanians never managed to destroy a JNA tank. In the Kosovo war only 13 tanks were found destroyed - 2 were WWII vintage, 3 were by KLA mines, and 8 by NATO bombs. Only 50 of our aircraft were destroyed, all but 17 of which being over 30 years of old. KLA did not do this, NATO did. Doesn't it hurt, Albanian Pickola.

Fender are we talking about the same KLA? Because the one I'm talking about was the most successful guerrilla movement in the world. Farmers vs. Europes 4th strongest army.

Without America's help the KLA achieved nothing. 95% of the victories/damage the KLA did was done by Americans.

1 tank destroyed by a NATO bomb. clearly Albanians can only fight when America is doing the fighting. Yeah, IEDs aren’t known for destroying heavily armoured vehicles like tanks. So either the Albanians planted enough explosives to bring down a building or it was destroyed by a NATO bomb.
