The Vienna-based International Center on Migration Policy Development estimates that 100,000 to 120,000 migrants cross the Mediterranean by boat each year. During the summer months, when the weather is warmer and the seas are calmer, the number of crossings increase. In the west, the Canary Islands are one of main locations for illegal immigrants to enter Europe. This small boat carried 55 illegal immigrants to Tenerife in the Canary Islands. Spain has two enclaves on the African mainland -- Melilla and Ceuta. Huge fences have been erected to try to keep would-be immigrants from gaining a foothold into Europe by crossing the border. After a series of mass attempts to cross the border in 2005, during which 11 immigrants were killed, Spanish authorities decided to fortify the borders around Melilla. Here, a group of would-be immigrants is watched over after having been detained for trying to jump the fence into Melilla in 2005. Other footholds are made further east in the Mediterranean at Malta and Lampedusa, an Italian island between Sicily and Tunisia. Here, would-be immigrants hold on to fish nets after their boat capsized off Malta. A capsized boat that had recently held would-be immigrants: The NGO United Against Racism estimates that, since 1993, over 9,000 would-be immigrants have perished while trying to reach Europe. Disasters and tragedies are frequent in the rickety, overcrowded boats used to make the journey. This woman and her child were among 27 would-be immigrants rescued off Malta in June. The numbers are astounding. The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees estimates that, in 2007, almost 53,000 immigrants tried to reach Europe by ship through Greece, Italy, Malta and Spain. This ship full of 87 immigrants was located off Lampedusa. Lampedusa will soon become home to a monument to the would-be immigrants who have perished while making the journey. The monument will be in the shape of a giant open doorway and will be called "Porta di Lampedusa-Porta d'Europa" (Gateway to Lampedusa-Gateway to Europe). www.spiegel.de/fotostrecke/0,5538,PB64-SUQ9MzI3NjMmbnI9MTE_3,00.html

its cognate???
I dont know.
Anittas is a smart person and if you look at the comments made by Allah,he does make some good points, say some rational stuff.
But its all like from another perspective,I guess to make it seem like its another person.
But I also had the feeling that when I saw more of Allah's posts,it made me think it was an Illyria Forums regular who is disguising as someone else because Allah seemed familiar and talked like a regular

Cant we erect such fences also around our sea territories? I think we should make it known that anybody at least 18yrs old that arrives to our shores will have to do some serious public work for them to stay.We can provide hostel like facilities, and food. They in turn will keep our streets, buildings, and beaches clean in order for them to stay. They dont like it...then ship em back
