croatia and bosnia-herzegovina tried their bid for euro2008, but were unsuccessful, and then croatia tried another bid with hungary for euro2012, but again were unsuccessful.
i think possibly the time has come for croatia to host euro2016.
rumors are that hungary are trying to make a joint bid with romania, so that leaves croatia to find a new partner, or try on their own, which i think is possible. i think that maybe we can do another bid with BiH, or possibly with montenegro, or possibly with both of them into a 3 joint bid. to my opinion, a bid of croatia together with serbia is not possible because of nationalistic reasons, and slovenia is trying to stop croatia's bid to join EU if we dont give the croatian side of piran bay to slovenia, so a bid with slovenia i dont think is possible either.
my proposal is.................
------------------------------------
====Croatia & Bosnia-Herzegovina bid====
croatia:
Zagreb Osijek Rijeka Split
Bosnia-Herzegovina:
mostar zenica tuzla sarajevo
-----------------------------
====Croatia & Montenegro bid====
croatia:
Zagreb Osijek Rijeka Split Pula Slavonski brod
montenegro:
Niksic Podgorica
----------------------------------
====Croatia & Montenegro bid====
croatia:
Zagreb Osijek Rijeka Split
Bosnia-Herzegovina:
mostar sarajevo
montenegro:
Niksic Podgorica
----------------------------------
====Croatia only bid====
Zagreb Osijek Rijeka Split Pula Slavonski brod Zadar Sibenik
or
Zagreb Osijek Rijeka Split Pula Slavonski brod Sisak Karlovac

^ fair enough, but what about the poland/ukraine bid? they dont have satisfactory stadiums to hold international events either, but they got the bid, and have started working on building the new stadiums because of it.

^^ what is the combined total population of poland/ukraine? 90 million or so ... then add the close proximity of Germany and its 80 million or so people ... then compare that with Croatia/BiH for example ... the numbers just dont add up.

OMG we could finaly get a real stadium in Rijeka, not that sad joke in Kantrida used by NK Rijeka, which was also used by my Youth Athletic League.

Montenegro should try a bid on its own, possibly with Croatia though.

Bosnia and Montenegro aren't ready to host such an event. Croatia would have its best chance with Hungary or Slovenia I think. But I still voted for Croatia + Bosnia because its a nice thought

Neither Maksimir nor Poljud are up to UEFA standards. Forget about Kantrida, Gradski vrt, Varteks, etc. No chance.

Montenegro should try a bid on its own, i presume this a joke?..... the only two places in montenegro that has large enough populations to have big stadiums for international events are niksic and podgorica. montenegro can not possibly do it on its own. its questionable if croatia can even do it.

Only chance would be a triple-joint bid w/ hungary and bosnia.. or whoever.

The indoor arenas seem to be coming along nicely for the 2009 Worlds for Handball. I don't think building the stadiums is the problem... Croatia also gets over 10 million tourists anually and new hotels are going up as well as infrastructure.... Croatia could be a good candidate. The problem will lie with its joint partner for the bid. BiH has political problems which would ruin any chance. I believe Slovenia, not ideal but, would be the best bet at winning the bid though it still would be a long shot.
Zagreb, Split, Osijek, Rijeka, Zadar, Varadzin, Ljublijana and Maribor.

Croatia should bid on it's own, or with Hungary. But really, c'mon we need better stadiums!

"Neither Maksimir nor Poljud are up to UEFA standards. Forget about Kantrida, Gradski vrt, Varteks, etc. No chance. " It would be a great incentive, with modern building, methods; stadiums could be build to UEFA standards in 2 years time. Money of course is always an issue. Come to think of it, most large stadiums can hold 50-70,000 people, meaning most can fit almost entire populations of Croatian major cities So if we had a modern stadium to replace the sad joke Kantrida in Rijeka, other then for international games that stadium would never go near capacity again, which would make it less profitable.

The stadiums will get built if they get the bid. It would be a guarantee with the bid. The only way they will get built just like the handball arenas that almost finished for next years Handball World Cup.
