What's the history behind 'babo', is it a sort of slang or local dialect? I once, jokingly, called my father that and he knocked me out with his fists, vowing to never say it again and made me take the Karadzic blood oath again. I accept what I said was wrong but why such anger over one little word ... LOLLLLLL

Too funny, just like when I joke to my mother that I will marry a Serb. And I'm like "no worry when you're done with the Christmas tree, pass it over to us so we can use it for our Christmas too". :-) You don't want to see the look on her face ahahahaha...

Babo is from a Turkish word for father "baba".

Italians say Babo too, to refer to their fathers.

"You don't want to see the look on her face ahahahaha... "
OH GOD.... A mother should only wish that her daughter marries a guy that loves her and not be worried about his ethnicity... but i understand... she was most likely born and raised in Australia.

Hahahahaha..... I explained to you once but it was on Serbo Croatian ( or just Croatian if it sounds better to you). I will explain it in English so you would understand better. Serbian and Croatians do not use same tree for Christmas. Croatians (Catholics) use pine and Serbians use Oak. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Badnjak
