Moon for compromise between Belgrade and Pristina 03. januar 2008. 20:10 (Izvor; Tanjug)
UN Secretary General Ban Ki Moon believes that agreement between Belgrade and Pristina, to be confirmed by a SC decision, would represent the best solution for the status of Kosmet, his spokesperson Michel Montras said. She emphasized that Ki Moon supports talks aimed at compromise and believes that the definition of the status of Kosmet beyond the UN would have very serious consequences for the system of international relations.

Ofcourse he is, everyone is for reaching a compromise. That would end everything. BUT , since the compromise cannot be reached:
"delay in Kosovo status settlement could generate instability in the region"
Serbia opposes Ban Ki-moon's stance on Kosovo Print E-mail Wednesday, 02 January 2008 UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon was wrong when he said further delay in Kosovo status settlement could generate instability in the region, Serbian official said. Serbia's Minister for Kosovo, Slobodan Samardjic, said Kosovo's independence would actually cause instability. The statement comes after Ki-moon's latest report saying that any delay in Kosovo status decision could lead to events on the ground that would put UN achievements at risk. "UN Secretary General should pay more attention to the international law, not on separatist aspirations of militant members of ethnic minorities," Samardjic said. He added that Kosovo's unlawful secession would send a signal to separatist movements around the world to pursue similar goals.

Ban Ki-moon: Status quo unsustainable 4 January 2008 | 11:02 | Source: Beta, Tanjug BELGRADE, NEW YORK -- Ban Ki-Moon says that the UN Security Council needs to continue working on determining Kosovo’s status.
This was stated in a report published last night by the United Nations secretary-general, who stated that the Kosovo status quo was "unsustainable".
“There are great expectations in Kosovo for future status to be determined very quickly,” Ban said in his regular tri-monthly report on the UN mission to Kosovo (UNMIK).
UNMIK chief Joachim Ruecker is expected to report on Kosovo to the UN on January 16. This meeting of the Security Council is expected to be attended by President Boris Tadić as well.
Ban’s report states that if there are any more “hold-ups” in the status crisis, “events on the ground could take a turn and seriously endanger all that has been accomplished by the UN in Kosovo,”
“Insecurity and a loss of dynamics in the process of solving the province’s future status could pose the threat of instability in Kosovo and the wider region. Furthermore, it also represents a potential danger for the security of UN personnel,” Ban stated, calling on Albanians and Serbs to keep their word and refrain from violence.
He says that the timeframe for negotiations between Belgrade and Priština has ended and that he is disappointed that no solution has been reached between the two sides.
The report goes on to say that the UN, along with the support of international organizations, is dedicated to offering help to Kosovo on its road to sustainable stability.
“In view of this, I accept that the European Union will have a larger role in Kosovo as expressed by the conclusions of the European Council at its December 14 session,” Ban says.
“The EU’s growing institutional participation in Kosovo is important to further secure Kosovo’s European future,” the UN Secretary General stated.

Moon changes every day JEREMIC LAUNCHES NEW DIPLOMATIC OFFENSIVE IN NEW YORKNEW YORK, Jan 4 (Tanjug) - Upon his arrival in New York late on Thursday, Serbian Foreign Minister Vuk Jeremic evaluated that the rescheduling of the UN Security Council session from the initially planned January 9 to January 16 is a positive development of the situation, since UNSC member states will have more time to study Serbia's response to the report on Kosovo and Metohija, drawn up by UN Secretary General Ban Ki Moon and his special envoy Joachim Ruecker. "It is good that the session has been rescheduled because it gives us more time to present our report, inform them about the details and to lobby. We have an extensive response, because we believe that the report is full of factual inaccuracies, and we described in detail the places where the reality is not presented correctly," Jeremic told Tanjug.Jeremic, who had arrived in New York much ahead of the session in order to prepare the field for the address of Serbian President Boris Tadic, underscored that Belgrade's new diplomatic initiative will be aimed at five non-permanent members of the UNSC, which made their debut on the scene of the UNSC. Vuk Jeremic also welcomed the Thursday statement by media representative of UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon, who said that a compromise solution reached by Belgrade and Pristina would be the best solution to the 10-year crisis in Serbia's southern province, and that every solution outside the United Nations would be a blow to international system.

He didnt really change. He said that he is for compromise, since it stops all of the unnecessary work, but also thinks that things need to move forward faster to avoid ethnic tension. He is expressing a fact that he is for a resolution between the two. We all know that everyone would want this, everyone, but its just not going to happen. Your really missing the point. Either way, his passing on control to the EU, and has admitted it. UN is very useless and defunct.
