We burn wood ....... ;D Macedonia not to be seriously impacted by halt in Russian gas supply TIRANA, Jan. 7 (Xinhua) -- Macedonian Economy Minister Fatmir Besimi has said the stoppage of Russian gas supplies will have no serious impact on the country, news reports from Skopje said Wednesday. "The shipment of Russian gas to Macedonia has been halted, but we think that the impact on Macedonia will be small because we don't use much gas," Besimi said. Natural gas supply to Macedonia has been cut off amid the dispute between Russia and Ukraine over prices and transit fees, which prompted Moscow to halt supplies to Ukraine on Jan. 1. The move has had a ripple effect on several European nations. Countries like Bulgaria, Greece, Turkey, Romania, Croatia, Serbia, Austria and Bosnia all reported a complete halt in Russian gas deliveries through Ukrainian pipelines in the early hours of Tuesday. If necessary, Macedonia will import more crude oil to fill the consumption gap left by the gas shutdown, Besimi said. He said Macedonia, along with other affected countries, will send a note of protest to Russia and Ukraine over the issue. "We consider that regular supply of gas should be established and we call on the parties concerned to respect international conventions on energy transit projects," Besimi said. Russia's state-owned gas monopoly Gazprom and Ukraine's gas company Naftogaz are scheduled to resume negotiations Thursday to solve the pricing dispute, which triggered the row in the new year.

Who's idea was it to run the pipeline from Russia to Europe through the Ukraine? Sure, there are pro-Russian Ukrainians but they both have a history of not liking each other.
I can not say I am sorry for this dilemma. Europe depending on Russian oil was a mistake. Everyone should of known that Russia would use oil as leverage to get what they want.
But Russia is suffering the drop in oil prices. The reason is that Russia bases its economy on oil. When prices go down, their economy goes down. It is going down now, so hence the fight with Ukraine on paying for its oil they get from Russia.

Then that would explain it. The Ukrainians at that time had no choice.

Yeah, well if it wasn't for Russia. your masters, sorry brothers, the Serbs, would have lost Kosovo for good. Your Krste Misirkovski guy wrote his diary in Russian. Of course he declared himself Bulgarian in his diary but that was only because he intended to print it later with Bulgarian money and in Bulgaria. Don't be bothered by the fact that this means he was sure "his people" the "Macedonians" had no chance to get an independent country ever. Otherwise he would have refrained from declaring himself Bulgarian in his own diary and wait until "Macedonia's" independence and only then publish the diary without any Bulgarian self-declaration but with a "Macedonian" one. Now if he was confindent his "Macedonia" would never be free but inside Bulgaria (free from Turkey only) the question that naturally arises is why did he bothered at all about "Macedonia" being non-independent inside Turkey while he didn't bother about a non-independent "Macedonia" within Bulgaria? Still "foreign yoke" (ok the Turks were bad Muslims, so he chose the lesser evil, Bulgaria ) Now that is very ludicrous since it means Misirkovski was reconciled with the probability that once "Macedonia" freed from the Turks, it would still never be independent but within "occupying" Bulgaria. Of course this is "logical"

We burn wood ....... ;D Sure you do. What? Dear Tito didn't connect you to gas pipelines? This means you are backward, very backward. As an Albanian, can you tell me if Kosovo gave up a small portion of its territory to FYROM recently. Did this use to be within Yugoslav "Macedonia" borders before 1991? BTW there was a thread on albanian.com about a few "Macedonians" from FYROM who went to the "Macedonian" portion of Albania and drove a FYROM flag into the ground, took pictures with it (of course nobody was around, it was far from any human settlement) and then probably left with the flag well hidden just like they had come. Very funny.
