Zagreb: Daily prints fake interview with PM 10 February 2008 The Croatian government says an interview with Ivo Sanader a Zagreb daily published was "made up in its entirety."
The piece, entitled, "Serb Radicals one more reason for us to join NATO", signed by Jutarnji List Editor, Davor Butkoviæ, was invented, the prime minister's office said.
"The Croatian government's public relations office emphasizes that such forgeries are utterly unprofessional, unethical and lacking the good will – acts that can have consequences on the level of democracy reached in the Croatian society," the statement read.
The newspaper has in the meantime apologized for the incident, reports added, saying that the fake interview was the result of an "interference in electronic communication".
The conversation with the prime minister was "arranged via text messages," the paper said in Zagreb today.
Butkoviæ was quoted in Croatia's internet media explaining that he then received answers from Sanader "via e-mail".
Based on this, the prime minister was quoted as saying that "the support that Tomislav Nikoliæ got in the recent presidential elections in Serbia was one more reason for Croatia to join NATO."
"The number of votes Nikoliæ won ought to cause concern not only in Serbia, but in all of Europe," the daily had its readers believe Sanader said.
As for Kosovo, "Croatia will follow EU's policy, which has the full agreement of President Stjepan Mesiæ," Jutarnji List falsely reported Sanader as commenting.

again .... what hasnt changed is the support for independence. Whether it was with a UN-back resolution or not isnt important at this stage.

It makes all the difference in the world. If they follow the UN path as everyone should, then there will eventually be a negotiated resolution. Going down the EU path will only guarantee instability with ilegal declerations. You asked me yesterday about proof of what I had posted, here is the proof, but it seems that it doesn't sit well with your own mantra.

Its irrelevant. It is now evident more than ever that a UN - backed resolution will not happen, and that most countries will bypass the process in order to recognise the independence of Kosovo. Thats all that matters.
Btw, no proof was provided ... Croatia never said anything but 'we will support independence.'

Believe what you will, but one fact remains and that is with out UN recognition, you have nothing but an overwhelming mess to contend with. Espicaly since Resolution 1244 exists stating Kosovo is a part of Serbia which leaves Serbia many different remedies to persue. Pristina cannot retaliate as its so called independance cannot be confirmed.

Again i disagree. Croatia has said nothing but 'we will recognise kosovo'. Then why did Croatia vote against the last resolution regarding Kosovo put by the west into the UNSC in January. I mean if they said such a statement, shouldn't they support the resolution.
