You are referring to social systems like universal health care, free education, etc. Socialism in terms of economy is called a command economy, that is when the state owns all property. There is nothing wrong with social programs, but as soon as it enters the fundamentals of an economy, it seizes to function. I think you are confusing semantics.
In Capitalist systems you have health insurance and private healthcare is infinitely better than that of Socialist systems’. Free education? It would be tremendously cheaper and more efficient (for any government or society) if every child was home schooled. We have entered a stage in societal evolution where (because nearly 100% of people are literate in any given European, American or Australian household) home schooling would work. The parents would be given free guides by the government and there would be testing every month. Teachers would be employed by private schools. Everyone would be happier and everything would be cheaper and more efficient. Socialism is for places where only 10% of the population are literate and everything is owned by 10% of the population. If you look at places were natural Socialist revolution have occurred, you’d see that they were only in places which had a Feudalist system of government and society. Socialism is nothing but the next stage in Feudalism.
