September 11, 2008, 3:04 Russian bombers arrive in Venezuela for training Two Russian bombers have arrived in Venezuela for training exercises. The aircraft were accompanied by NATO fighters on their way to the country, according to Russia's Defence Ministry. The Tu-160 strategic bombers landed at Venezuela's Libertador airfield and will conduct a number of training flights over neutral waters in the next few days. Later they will return to their home base in Russia, the ministry’s statement said. Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez said the arrival of the planes is not related to recent events in South Ossetia in any way. Chavez also said he would gladly pilot one of the aircraft. On August 7, 2007 Russia resumed strategic aviation flights, and some regard this as a return to the "Soviet empire", but the world simply becomes multi-polar, Chavez said. I wonder if russian fighters escort NATO bombers? I am rather skeptical about this. Other than that, it is GOOD news. Now we need a few russian warships in the Caribbean and that should balance out the situation in regards to the black sea.

I think NATO had the right to watch them flying, but their rights stop just right there!

Good thing NATO showing who's in charge No one is in charge in international airspace. Russian fighters could escort any American/NATO bomber and that legally. There is no "boss" in international airspace. I guess that is too much for your little albanian brain to comprehend.

When was the last time Russian fighters escorted a US bomber, stop talking from your ass!

North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO), they were only doing what is expected of them. BTW, no NATO Aircraft goes into Russian Federation Airspace, even announced, because of a couple of incidents with the VVS in the early 1980's to late 1990's (Such as the downing of a Korean Airlines flight).
