What's the resoning for that? read the book, and you will know. I won't read the book. The posted of this thread took on to edify the readers on this subject; therefore, it is up to him to do so.

In the old Illyria forum, I posted similar garbage written by an Englishman that observed the Romanian participation in WW1. It was the style of the day and it meant to entertain the English reader and bring them to exotic places. It also meant to inflate the good image of the allies. WW1 traumatized people and they got emotionally attached to everyone who were on their side. Needless to say, the things they wrote about their enemy were not so nice.

That makes no sense. I have "proved" (as you put it) my curiosity by participating in the discussion and asking questions. That doesn't mean that I'll pick up a book and read about it. I may partipate in threads that deal with many different topics and I don't expect others to demand me on taking on extensive reading.

Guys, i have been to Korfu museum.... i've seen it all there. NO other balkan nation came to anything close to what Serbs did in WWI.
The sea of Korfu was FULL of serb bodies, however the locals DIDNT witness NOT EVEN ONE BROKEN OLIVE TREE....
what else to say...
jealousy cant blind us the rest of balkanians for ever... Lets be like them instead of fight them. (and i am talking about Albs,Bulgs,Roms,Grks)

That doesn't mean that I'll pick up a book and about it. I may partipate in threads that deal with many different topics and I don't expect others to demand me on taking on extensive reading. When you participate in a thread about a book, a more correct answer would be "i dont know if i will/want to read the book".... Claiming that you DEFINITELY will not read the book, (on which thread you participate) speak tons about your intentions.

My intentions are quite clear: I am not interested in reading the book; I was interested in discussing the subject, specifically the paragraph that claimed the Serbs to be a superior race in the Balkans.

Anittas, AFAIK there is no generic benchmark that would reliably measure the physical strength/superiority (which is all this thread says about "superiority") of a nation.
This thesis belong to the author of the book, and ppl like you and me choose to believe him or not, read him or not (i am in the process of ordering the book)

To believe such a thing judged on its nation's military success during a brief time in history would be a bit silly. All of your neighbors have achieved similar success in the past: the Hungarians and the Bulgarians have achieved far more; and if we're to believe you that the FYROMs hail from the ancient Macedonians, then they also have a lot to brag with. It is for that reason that I'm suspecious about the book and its reasoning. I was hoping that Skoric would provide more info on the matter as to what makes you superior over your neighbors.

"the Hungarians and the Bulgarians have achieved far more; "
like expanding when grabbing the chance to do so? (while Yugoslvia could easily sweep any neighbor easily, yet it was a factor of stability in the balkans...)
"and if we're to believe you that the FYROMs hail from the ancient Macedonians, then they also have a lot to brag with."
The above sentence is totally wrong for 2 reasons. a) i am greek and could never claim smth like that because b) FYROMians HAVE NOTHING TO DO WITH GREEKS!
So equating Serbian EPOS of WWI (of which most Vardarians were also part) with Alexander-FYROM fantasies shows you have no clue what you try to instigate upon.

This topic can only stir sh.it. Because it is constructed in such a way as if only Serbs showed bravery while the others used to run away from the battlefield like rabbits. That was not the case. Actually, the battles throughout the war were very tough and none of the sides displayed any cowardness. The pity is that all those victims perished for nothing, as the situation is now.
