Albanian Tosk as far as I know... usually the Jews who converted to Islam became full-on Turks. But Monastir was a mixed city so who knows. Enver Hoxha looked pretty strange as well: Although today its been argued that he might have been of part "Bosnian-Turk" heritage... a fact which is a further attack on him and sort of proves to many of his "non-Albanian" character.

I agree he looked strange, too. Somehow physically north-african influenced. Especially as young man.

Wasn't Enver Hoxha of Malsor origin? He must of stood out in Gjirokaster since he was well over 6 foot lol.

Nah, his family was a wealthy one from Gjirokaster. His father, Hysni Hoxha, was an Albanian nationalist. His wife was taken hostage by the Bimbashi and it was for this reason that Cerciz executed him.

Looks for some reason like a Jewish that I've seen once. Though something Medish in my opinion.

May I ask why even Enver Hoxha is 'suspected' of being Jewish? If someone seems "foreign" then he/she is immediately suspected of being Jewish. Kind of lends continuing credence to an old anti-semitic canard. I thought that Albanians were relatively immune from these tendencies.

why can't someone look Jewish? What does that have to do with anti-semitism?

Local stories of Enver Hoxha in Gjirokaster (where he was born) say that he was of mixed Albanian and "Turkobosnian" origin. In one tale, the Bimbashi of Gjirokaster took Hysen's (Enver's father) wife as his mistress and kept her hostage for six months, leading to Cerciz Topulli's declaration to kill him.
This mixed origin might explain Enver's look.
