Independence of Kosovo did not violate international law June 23 (Kosovo Times) - Wolfram Mass, German Ambassador to Serbia said that the position of Germany is that the declaration of the independence of Kosovo has not violated international law. Ambassador Mass told the Belgrade press that Germany has clarified its position in the statement submitted to the ICJ. Asked about the hypothetical possibility if the ICJ rules in favor of Serbia would Germany reconsider its decision to recognize Kosovo Ambassador Maas said that Germany has always based its policy on reality; “Kosovo has been recognized by 60 countries, the admission of Kosovo in the IMF and the World Bank was supported by more than the half of world countries and therefore I think that the existence of an independent Kosovo is a matter of fact” Maas told Vecernje Novosti. www.kosovotimes.net/flash-news/608-independence-of-kosovo-did-not-violate-international-law.html

One can declare anything. I declare that today will be a day off for me. Doesn't make it legal or illegal. A declaration is just that a declaration. Its up to the rest of the world to recognize or not the validity of such declaration.

Its up to the rest of the world to recognize or not the validity of such declaration. x2 The legitimacy and validity of the declaration is up to the world to decide. So far, the richer and more powerful part of the world has recognized us, including the US, the better majority of EU, Japan, Canada, etc. Our declaration being legitimate in their eyes is more valuable than Russia, China and third world countries saying "NO", because the former, not the latter, are the true representatives of democracy, liberty and human rights.
