Croatia is planning on introducing a day dedicated to Croatia's contribution to world fashion - the Cravat or more commonly known as the Tie. What do you think about this? On what day should the Day of the Cravat lie on? More information:The modern cravat originated in the 1630s; like most men's fashions between the 17th century and World War I, it was of military origin. In the reign of France's Louis XIII, Croatian mercenaries were enlisted into a regiment supporting the King and Cardinal Richelieu against the Duc de Guise and the Queen Mother, Marie de Medici. The traditional Croat military kit aroused Parisian curiosity about the unusual, picturesque scarves distinctively knotted at the Croats' necks; the cloths that were used, ranged from the coarse cloths of enlisted soldiers, to the fine linens and silks of the officers. The sartorial word "cravat" derives from the French "cravate," a corrupt French pronunciation of "Croat" — in Croatian, "Hrvat".

^^ not necessarily. Just a symbolic day ... where the Cravat could be celebrated both domestically and promoted internationally, as being from Croatia.

It has been suggested that the 18th of October be marked for the day of the Cravat.
A law has been submitted to Croatian Parliament ... i hope it is adopted.

This is funny. How pathetic do you have to be to latch on to an article of clothing made by some individuals from Croatia a long time ago just to boost your self confidence?
Oh , this guy is from Croatia , I'm gonna claim him and his invention to boost my own self confidence!
