Enjoy, compliments of Bob Crnogorac Budva At Night. According to Stjepan (Stephen) of Byzantium, budva was founded by Cadmus, son of the Phoenician king Agenor and queen Telephose in the fifth century B.C. (although it was a Greek colony). Another legend states that this was the site where Greeks received alphabet from the Phoenitian king Agenor (although the time is pushed back to 7-8 cen. BC). Kotor (Boka) Perast (Boka) Rijeka Crnojevica Bey of Risan (Boka) Risan (Rhizinion) is linked by legend with the story of Cadmus and Harmonia, who, according to Appian and Euripides, went to reign over Illyria. Historically it was, at any rate, one of the chief towns of the kingdom of Illyria and for a while, under Queen Teuta, its capital. Teuta is thought to have committed suicide here after being defeated by the Romans in 229BC. Virpazar
