Serbia-Eulex sign protocol, Serbian opposition slams it
The EU mission in Kosovo, EULEX, has signed a protocol on cooperation with the Serbian police (MUP), an agreement seen as important in the context of allowing Serbia to fully meet all the EU requirements related to the visa regime Brussels imposed on the Serbian citizens.
(KosovoCompromise Staff) Monday, September 14, 2009
The visas are expected to be abolished on Jan. 1, 2010.
The protocol is supposed to secure a much more stringent control of the administrative line between Kosovo and central Serbia, and in this way provide for "a palpably stronger fight against organized crime", reports said.
"The protocol should define cooperation in fighting all forms of crime in Kosovo, such as trafficking of persons, arms and narcotics, organized crime and all other illegal activities across borders or the administrative boundary", Serbian Interior Minister Ivica Dacic said.
Brussels and Washington hailed the agreement.
However, former Serbian Prime minister and opposition leader Vojislav Koštunica today accused the government of humiliating the country with the protocol.
"EULEX in its official documents recognizes Kosovo as a state that has its borders, and for that reason this signature of the current government has humiliated Serbia, turning its back to our people in Kosovo," said Kostunica, who heads the Democratic Party of Serbia (DSS). "The current government is using a policy of lies to mislead the citizens in the crudest manner, saying that the agreement with EULEX on setting up a border between Serbia and Kosovo is in our country's interest," stated Kostunica.

You don't know since most of you guys don't really knows what happens over there or which is where. Presheva, Bujanovc and Medvegje residents use Merdare customs and not border Gate 1 and 31 which until now were used by Serbs in north without paying taxes will soon have a one single command and thats coming from Prishtina. Belgrade and EU made a deal, either you accept Kosovo unofficially or there wont be any visa liberalization, Belgrade agreed in one condition, not having Prishtina participate on the protocol sign, this way the public could stay calm, Prishtina saw that as being left aside and made a big deal, but in long turn would really benefit them as for once they would actually have some kind of control. If you don't believe me, ask any K-Serbs living in north what they think about the protocol signing between MUP and EULEX. There is games and politics, this one has both.

To be honest, im kind of nervous about it. Pejoni has a point to a degree. Besides pejoni's thoughts, the border may control things of a 'grey' nature, but then again is the government of serbia pulling wool over our eyes?

Making up stories again on who said what. Obviously you weren't there at the meeting so would not have the first idea on what was agreed up and how the agreement came about.

The one that springs to mind is Kosova Express. Only they seem to write fairy tales which no other credible newspaper will touch. So much for your reading material. Find a new source if you want to be taken seriously.
