Has anyone seen this movie? Saw it yesterday and seriously, it's already one of my favorites. Tarantino delivering a masterpiece once again. I had to open this thread after seeing it, because it was so cool. I mean everything about it was entertaining; from the visual effects to the dialogues. Tarantino knows what he's doing, some of the dialogues extended for quite some time, a pretty unusual thing for American movies as I've noticed. I'm confident that several scenes extended well over ten minutes, being set up in the same milieu with a few characters and through the content and brilliant acting, never letting you divert attention. It's also a very radical change from traditional portraits made of Jews in movies involving WWII.
Also, the main antagonist of the movie is one of the most if not the most entertaining villains of all time in my book. Brilliant actor, from Austria, who plays a SS-officer in hunt of Jews in Vichy-France. I wouldn't be surprised if they elected his character as the most charismatic and overall best villain ever in the history of cinema. To anyone who hasn't seen it, go see it! To those who have, share your thoughts!

Yeah, I saw it about 2 weeks ago. I also thought it was a great movie...I liked how there was both a serious side to the movie and a humorous one as well...Brad Pitt has really grown on me since Troy (used to hate him, his acting and his movies). I often find myself feeling stupid after watching a movie...because there's not really a point, a story behind or an authecity to it...but I didn't get that feeling after this movie...so I liked it a lot...
BUT...I could've lived without the gory scenes - like, when they scalpate nazis and "ingrave" the swastika on their foreheads...I literally started screaming and hide my face under my husband's armpit ;D. I can't watch things like that...

If you recall the scene with Donny "The Jewish Bear" Donowitz and the Nazi captives, well, alot of people jumped up from their chairs when he started his handy work. A woman next to me screamed even. Trully brutal ... Tarantino is as twisted as he is a genious.

Mysia, LOL! Yeah, and I'm so scared . Yes, my husband has seen it...seeing that I dress in tops and dresses like that every day. My son is only a year old so I'm not sure he has an opinion on my clothes. I suppose he's just happy that there's easy access to his lunch . Donnie, I remember that scene...it was the one I found the most disturbing... And yep...my favourite scene with Brad was when he played an Italian man, and claimed to be the best Italian speaker of the bunch...lol.

I think that in the real story these Jewish Americans, who are the protagonists, ended up in Albania where they were saved(being Jews) by the locals... ;D I don't know why they don't mention it in the movie...?

You've become a broken record Patrine ... seriously, the same thing in every thread. Even your smileys aren't convincing anymore, they seem forced.

Good movie, definetly in the top 5 Terentino flicks. Brad Pitt was good, wish he got more screen time though. Obviosly none of it is to be taken seriosly.

Typical Terentino script, with the well-spoken bad guys. The fact that some scenes were much longer than usual allowed for more detailed and more "absorbing" conversations. I guess it is not easy to add a great deal of essence to a movie when you focus primarily on "rapid-fire" entertainment.
He intentionally set the story in WWII to give himself more freedom of combining his 2 strengths. And I must say the jew-hunter guy was really enjoyable to watch. Just as The Dark Night was pretty much all about the joker.
One thing that I found a little annoying (even before watching the movie) is that no such jewish team existed in WWII. Going so far out of reality is like 'yeah I can see how cool it would have been... but it never happenned... and there is no fvcking way it could possibly happen (to the extent it presented in the movie)!' And also the trade-mark of modern hollywood: make the scenes impressive but don't bother showing how the impressive results were achieved. They showed no planning, no overcoming of obstacles, that would have led to the capturing and killing of many nazis.
