Prince Leka II (the grandson). He works now for Lulzim Basha, Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Leka's secondary school education took place at St. Peter's College, Johannesburg. In December 2006, he graduated from Sandhurst Military Academy, United Kingdom, as the “Best foreign student of the Academy” [2]. He was subsequently congratulated by the Albanian Minister of Defense for this achievement. He also has completed studies at the Università per Stranieri in Perugia, Italy, for the Italian Language. He subsequently has also completed training at the Albanian Military Academy Skanderbej. He is currently studying International relations. Prince Leka, who was featured in the cover story, 'Young and Royal', of Vanity Fair in September 2003, currently resides in Tirana, is fluent in Albanian, French, English, Zulu and Italian. He owns four boxer dogs and his personal interests include martial arts, volleyball and swimming. He is also fond of wildlife and leads a very active life, taking part in and supporting mountain climbing and other outdoor sports, such as abseiling and target shooting. In April 2004 he accepted the Mother Teresa Medal on behalf of his late grandmother, Queen Geraldine, for her humanitarian efforts.[4] He is known to have worked with youth organizations, like MJAFT!, and supported a wide range of humanitarian efforts in Albania, but maintains that he only supports "Self Help" projects to stimulate Albanian and Kosovar economic growth, Gazeta Sot. Prince Leka is also known as a supporter of Kosovo independence from Serbia and has close ties with the Kosovo leadership in Pristina. Iliria Royal University in Pristina and Tirana is styled as regal and functions under his guidance. Prince Leka also founded the Youth leadership of the "Movement for National Development" which was a movement created by His Father to change the political face of Albania in 2005.

For some reason I have doubts he is fluent in Albanian. Never heard this dude speak Albanian. Although his Hungarian grandma, Geraldine, spoke Albanian really good.
P.S He is not a prince as Zogu was self-proclaimed. He is as much a prince as Sala's son would be if tomorrow Sali declares himself king.

Usually on Western side, aristocrats are descendants of people who achieved at their time something "valuable", it implied more battles, defense, sacrifices...many who did the crusades were appointed Lord at their return...later then it came more with money, to be a very rich person was a point to be aristo...anyway reasons are plenty, but i do not see any of this reasons applying to Zog...none... I heard he is somehow a descendant of scanderbeg, i do not believe it... It is ok he self-proclaimed himself king, because in Albania few chances others will do for you even after great achievement...but the guy did nothing, I do not remember the author (a French diplomat around year 1880)but I read somewhere that "All Albanians are Princes, they are all proud people and have the manner of aristocrats...)...considering myself, it is so true

Then again I've been raised mostly in the US so it's hard for me to say.

Leka does speak fluent Albanian. He has been living in Albania for over a decade now and has been actively involved in both politics and various cultural circles. He is a very intelligent man and would do 10x a better job than our current leaders.

If you go far back enough in time. All kings were self-proclaimed. None was born that way. You gain legitimacy after it is accepted for a while.
Leka II, at least has "half-royal" blood. I think he will have a bright future in Albanian politics.

If you go far back enough in time. All kings were self-proclaimed. None was born that way. There is always the Only One Heavenly and Earthly MBRET (King) Myself Misia JESUS The Messiah that Rules and Lead The Universe in One Holy Way. That's just because I speak albanian and I'm an proudly albanian only in my albanian language the word Mbret (King) makes right sense which that means the Only One Myself Holy God-MYSUS who is and always stands Over Cloudy and above all Perfections. Mbi+ret (King) Mbi=Over Ret=Cloudy MY+SUS (God-MYSUS) MYS=MISIA SUS=GOD Cheers!

Both Greece and Serbia along with Romania had monarchies from the Saxe-Coburg and Gotha that linked most of Europe together. Without this Zog was not considered a "true" monarch. I personally prefer having a king who is native rather than external, who would make preferences for his country of origin (like the king of Greece, who was German and had pro-German policies).

Apparently after Geraldine and Zog's wedding night, Zog took Geraldine's nightgown and showed it to the Albanian parliament and showed the blood on it, confirming that she was a virgin and therefore the marriage was legitimate. ;D Ah, those Islamic traditions... PS: The city name of Sarande should be changed back to Zogaj. Zog's mother claimed maternal descent from Scanderbeg. Most prolly it was falsified. But to their credit, they did come from Scanderbeg's native region: Diber.

Ive read about it in a book on Turkey that in a rural place, this lady who got married had sex that night and had to show the stained sheet the next morning to the people in the village.Stupid and embarassing. Zog must have got that from the Ottomans
oh,by the way,let the prince go into politics, but dont let Albanianistan be a monarchy. That is just going backwards.

Zog didnt get anything from Ottomans. He was born an Ottoman. He was born into an Albanian beyluk family from Diber.
Ironically, under Zog's regime, Albanian-Turkish relations reached their all time low. With Turkey removing their ambassador from Albania and Albania shutting down all relations. Zog and Ataturk regularly threw slurs at one another. Eventually Zog said "We just liberated ourselves from 500 years of Ottoman rule, we have no interest in having good relations so early."
