No we fvcking didn't. We were basically the only ones in the Balkans who didn't. The House of Obrenović and the House of Karađorđević, both native Serbian dynasties, led Serbia from 1817 and on.

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fan_S._NoliI'd say British. His mom was Australian. Hellboy; better Albaniastan with the likes of Zogu than Hellatican with the likes of Papa Jani. None of them a good option though. Just had to throw Papa Jani in there and to make a connection with it Hellatican didn't sound bad.

f**k the royal family ! Bring Fan Noli back ! We don't want those funcking people who took the power illegitemitelly, with the help of shkije ! We want Fan Noli, the true patriot ! Noli did nothing in Albania that was of any improvement to the population. He was an idealistic intellectual with little practical capability. Once in power, he promoted reforms he could never realistically put through, alienated both the people he claimed to represent and those who put him into power... and fell within months. He himself admitted this years later. I like Noli as well, i think he was a man of class and a true sincere love for his people. But he did not know how to move the country forward and came into power in inopportune ways, alienating the west along the way. Then, in desperation he brought in the Soviets with his socialist sympathies and pretty much alienated the rest of the nationalist Anti-Slavs. No offense, but much of what survives today about Noli's regime is a result of the preference he held in Communist Albania over Zog.

Konstandin Kristoforidhi had translated it far earlier... into Gheg Albanian though. He later translated the Bible into Tosk, although using Greek script instead of the Latin he used for the Gheg translation. And an Albanian bible was also done even earlier by 'Dhaskal' Todhri Haxhifilipi. Vangel Meksi also published an Albanian language Bible in Greek script. Meksi's work was later edited by the Bishop of Euboea, Gregor Gjirokastriti, who published a bilingual Greek-Albanian version of the Gospel of Mathew in Corfu.
Fan Noli is credited for the translation of a body of later Christian works... and Shakespeare.

Noli's religious work is only part of his work. Shakespeer is only one of the greats he translated. In fact his literary work is just as important as his political and religious work; in my opinion. He was a multifaceted person. Might have committed suicide if he saw who is in charge of his church today.

Fan Noli modernized the way of teaching and preaching the bible in albanian language for all orthodox churches in albania that we see and have also and nowdays .
