For those who live in France or speak French it's hard to phathom how Albanian might be mistaken for French but it's happened to me several times in NYC. I think it's the Tirana dialect that gives off that impression because of the frequency of the Ch, Sh and Zh sounds. When I was a kid we joked asking a friend to translate from the French the phrase "Zhytem e s'dal mo" while saying it in a French accent and unless you told them they wouldn't get it. For the non-Albanian the verb "zhytem" (dive) sounds awefully similar to the French "Je t'aime". Oh and I agree with the similarities to the Portugese as well. I realized that when I visited Toronto. And it's juts not the language it's the facial feature as well. When my brother visited France last year he felt like he was in Albania by the way the people looked. As for the Protugese, they look even more Albanian

As for the Protugese, they look even more Albanian Portuguese and albanians are sophisticated in tradition and not liberal like some other chit kurva people in other chit kurva countries.

I dont find Albanian similar to French at all when you hear them both. In real... I find albanian language tottaly indiferent. Not good like Italian, French or Spanish.. Not bad... like Russian or German.... but indiferent. Without living behind good or bad smell... just neutral.

I agree, Albanian and Portuguese have a slight resemblance. Which is cool, since I find Portuguese beautiful.

^ Same here donnie, used to watch some of the Brazilian telenovelas (I hate the spanish ones though), and used to love hearing Portuguese. I think it's a beautiful language, much better than french.
