of course they had pistols. Here you can see more Ottoman pistols and rifles: www.e-tarih.org/sayfam.php?m=silah&k=3piyade silahlari=infantry weapons Süvari Silah ve Malzemeleri=cavalry weapons and materials these carabines for example are from the 16th century: i guess the Malay sultanates had some diplomatic and trade relations with the Ottomans, no? so maybe a richer Malay guy back then bought that pistol or recieved it as a gift

Back home in Serbia, I have a Turkish yatagan, a carabine, and a rifle, all predating the Serbo-Turkish War of 1876-1878.

I have two jatagans at home. I bought them back in Albania, they are mostly ornamental. They hand off of a wooden shield with the Albanian eagle etched on it. All handmade... beautiful...
I think I also had such a rifle.

my idea of pistols is all from the American movies,so when I see these ones,so different,I'm awed.Their nice work of art.
yeni, now I remember. In 1884 or 1885,the SUltan of Johor(a state in south peninsular Malaysia) when to meet the Ottoman Sultan in Istanbul and he got 2 Circassian girls who are sisters(Rugayah and Khadijah) as like gifts because of good relations or something like that.Rugayah is the grandmother of the thrid Prime Misnister of Malaysia.
Thats all,I've never heard of trade or Ottoman diplomats coming over to the Malaysian Peninsula.
