^^^^ You all despise Americans but deep down you want to be Americans. Stop insulting America before it gets ugly in here. Would you like me to start to insult Greece and tell you what I saw there??? I am Greek but let me tell you anyways since you pissed me off now.
In Greece I saw people with no manners. People who did not understand the concept of a line. People who did not shower everyday. As if there own sweat and body oil naturally cleans and deodorizes the body. I saw a lot of fat people too. Greece after all is one of the most obese countries in the world. I also saw people who make a living selling crap to American tourists. Literally people who sit in a seat all day long and sell junk, plastic souvenirs to Americans. I saw Greek restaurants that could not cook for s**t. The food was better in my own Greek American kitchen. I also saw a country full of lazy people not doing s**t with their lives. A country with ancient monuments but not much to show for its modern time. It was as if a bunch of fat, ignorant b***hes, were gaurding most of the historical sights. Sitting, sitting, sitting, sitting, staring, whispering, whispering a little more making you feel real uncomfortable. I also could understand most of the Greek being spoken by people in the street and I did not like how openly and loud the would speak about the xenoi. It was actually really embarrassing. I would just shake my head at them. In a nut shell for the most part I thought Greece sucked balls. In another breath I just want to say that I married an Italian woman. I thought Greece was going to be comparable in terms of cultural sites and style of the modern people. In my honest opinion I thought the Italians blew Greeks out of the water in all facets. We were in both countries and Greece did not come close in terms of artistic and cultural achievement.

This stuff is old. America has started to change, and this stuff was 5 years ago. People have started to take care of their diet, especially the girls, because media is talking everyday about it...and monster is right, Europe is not even close to America when it comes to manners and service.

ahaha what do you know about Europe...Europe is the world's one and only king. America was the attempt to make a better Europe...they miserably failed. The only thing they achieved was to exterminate the Native Americans. Im waiting to see the day when this country finally goes under...its appearance in man's history will be short after all I presume.

I can't say that I know all Europe and everything about Europe, but I've seen europians here and there. There is a difference on people's attitude. Most europians that I've seen were pricks and had no manners. The service sucks, you go buy a coffee or a pizza and they never smile like you're getting it for free...bottom line, what I've seen the customer service in Europe sucks, and especially when you have a long flight you don't need that crap.
And by the way, America is still the biggest manufacturer in the world and the only superpower, and it's not only that. America's music, movies are all over the world...that's what you guys see and watch everyday.
On the other hand, and this is the most important, America is the most innovative country in the world. More than 90% of the inventions in this world came from America, like the first computer, the first elevator, the first light bulb, the first air conditioning, the first plane, the first cell phone, to name some and your ipod of course...and still continues to be number one in this field according to a french survey a couple of years ago.
That native americans story is much older than your Hitler there, so you better don't get me started on that...

My mate that just came back from America said that they have very good manners calling you Mam & Sir all the time. I like the sounds of that... don't know I imagine it's connected to the tipping culture though. In Australia there is no such thing as tipping.

Tipping is not mandatory...well, you'll see that tip line on your bill, but it's always up to you if you want to leave a tip or not and how much, and you won't get a bad service just because you don't leave tip. But I wasn't talking only about that, I was talking in general about people's attitude on the streets, in the stores, in everyday life...

Monster...AMEN! I'm with you on that! I've learned to shrug off people's anti-americanism and ignore it.
Some of you do not realize that the stereotype of americans is just one part of the culture. If you go into a Walmart...that's what you will see....poor, fat and ignorant people.
I'll give you an example....out of 140 or so friends I have on facebook, only 2 are fat and not as fat as the woman in the picture.
The funny thing here is this 'steretyope' is very much emulated in many european cities. I laugh everytime I see it. Greece now advertises 'fat-free' souvlakia, they eat frozen french fries at home instead of peeling their own, they break dance (BTW, the 80's called...), they skateboard, they rap, they are getting FAT!
I GUARANTEE the broad running with her dogs in a jog bra is AMERICAN because you see that in America...NOT europe. I have been all over europe and HAVE NEVER, ever seen a woman jogging especially with her dogs. This is seen more in America than the fat lady pictured above.
BTW Kastor....for some of us, America is also our home and we don't like people s**tting on our home. That's why monster got mad. For Greeks, America has been generally very accomodating, friendly and GOOD to us Greeks. Also, this is a FACT....it's very hard to differentiate a german from an american until they open their mouths.
I was interviewed by a magazine not long ago...yup I'm famous lol, One of the questions I was asked is if I would ever consider moving back to Europe or Greece. My response was PC but true. I would've loved to just have said straight out..."Hell no!".

You're the naive one to think every women from North America would look like her. It would be like me thinking Indians break out in dances out of nowhere like they do in Bollyhood movies.

Well it depends on what your criterions for a "good" or "bad" place are. You are talking about customer service...you are right...in Europe..from what I know...the people are usually not friendly in an american way...but on the other hand...I also dont want to get sucked up by the shopmen for the 1,99 Euros I pay. I simply dont care if they are too friendly or not...essentially they dont get unfriendly. And it is not right that you see nowhere friendly people...if you go somewhere where you pay a lot of money...people smile at you all the time, too...but personally I find it nasty since I have the feeling that I get reduced to my money. The Americans are less realistic there...and seem to like to live in a dream world...as kind of a mentality...
America is still the world power nr. 1. Of course it will have leading positions in economy science etc...otherwise it wouldnt be the global power, lol.
As for Hitler...Hitler didnt exterminate native Germans but Jews. Not that this makes him less criminal...but it says a lot about your comprehension of what is right and wrong if you kill or expel the owner of a house in order to make it your own...and if additionally you are proud of it.
Personally I dont like America because I find the people of it to be dumb in average...they are out of touch with reality....they dont have a clue on what is going on in the world...which explains why so many of them are strangely conservative...fanatically religious...but simultaneously they claim to be the most proggressive people on earth. I dont know a people that is more contradictory than them. I find America at that simply too artificial...most of them are Europeans in origin, yet they are not really Europeans...Europeans are much more honest people...they are more enlightened...more realistic..more proggressive...not that naive...thus much more critical...but because of all of this also more melancholic..and dejected....but this makes them more individual...more humans in the end. Europe is America's mother...and the copy can hardly be better than the original. Never.
I dont have a problem with you loving the USA...its your home I fully understand that. Thats where you were born and grew up etc. And America might have helped as you say the Greeks of it. But it surely hasnt helped Greece, our country. In contrast...it has never really supported but has pretty much always been against us although we have always been on their side when the chips were down. If you take the Asia Minor catastrophy...Cyprus...the Macedonia name issue. I, as a Greek from Europe...cant stand America. I see it as a disturbing factor. And Im glad about every step Europe does in order to detach itself from America's sweep. Although Im not against a cooperation with America in general especially since we need to be a strong antipole to the Chineses.
This is because you are more American than Greek. In fact the only thing that is Greek on you is your background and your exchange with the Greek Americans to whom you feel attracted because you share the same background. But on the other hand you very well know that there is a big ocean which is seperating you from Greece and Europe...in fact you are done with Greece...actually you were already nurtured in this spirit by your parents..otherwise you would speak fluently Greek. Thats the great difference between the European and the American Greek immigrants. Almost all of us Europeans are always in close contact to Greece in the one or other way while you and yours have long ago started a new era of your family in America. Almost all of the Greeks here migrate back to Greece as they get their German pension. Mine will as well.
