it reminds me the very first time I visited US. I was expecting to see everywhere women like Pamela Anderson.. back then Hello Borat. ^^^^ You all despise Americans but deep down you want to be Americans. Stop insulting America before it gets ugly in here. Would you like me to start to insult Greece and tell you what I saw there??? I am Greek but let me tell you anyways since you pissed me off now. In Greece I saw people with no manners. People who did not understand the concept of a line. People who did not shower everyday. As if there own sweat and body oil naturally cleans and deodorizes the body. I saw a lot of fat people too. Greece after all is one of the most obese countries in the world. I also saw people who make a living selling crap to American tourists. Literally people who sit in a seat all day long and sell junk, plastic souvenirs to Americans. I saw Greek restaurants that could not cook for s**t. The food was better in my own Greek American kitchen. I also saw a country full of lazy people not doing s**t with their lives. A country with ancient monuments but not much to show for its modern time. It was as if a bunch of fat, ignorant b***hes, were gaurding most of the historical sights. Sitting, sitting, sitting, sitting, staring, whispering, whispering a little more making you feel real uncomfortable. I also could understand most of the Greek being spoken by people in the street and I did not like how openly and loud the would speak about the xenoi. It was actually really embarrassing. I would just shake my head at them. In a nut shell for the most part I thought Greece sucked balls. In another breath I just want to say that I married an Italian woman. I thought Greece was going to be comparable in terms of cultural sites and style of the modern people. In my honest opinion I thought the Italians blew Greeks out of the water in all facets. We were in both countries and Greece did not come close in terms of artistic and cultural achievement. Couldn't have said it better myslef just disagree that deep down they want all to be American. And also there's no need to delete the account.

There is no uniform America but easily 2
1) 1st one I will name as Neo-Europe. -Modern, secular, eco-friendly and basically very similar to Europe (in terms of populace and their beliefs) (north east, California, Pacific states) (Tends to be more democrat friendly)
2) 2nd one is conservative stereotypical America -Conservative, self-absorbed, religious and nowhere as eco-friendly (Mississippi/Missouri river areas and south) (Tends to be more republican friendly)

Wrong....I was born in Greece. I went to about kindergarten in Greece. I spent 3 months out of every year in Greece. I DO speak Greek fluently, read and write but probably not at your level. I AM ACTIVELY engaged in pro-active pro-Greek movements here in America....more so than any Greek in Greece is so you are wrong...I am not 'done' with Greece. I hate the stupidity of the modern Greek that you generally see in Athens sitting on their asses complaining and doing nothing. I am sick of the corruption. I am sick of the arrogance. I am sick of the hypocracy.
The difference between a euro-Greek and an American Greek is that we don't live in close proximity to Greece and we are spread out. With the exception of Astoria....Greeks in America do not live in little Greek communities where we speak Greek everyday to Greek people and retain our language better. You obviously have NO IDEA. The most vocal Greeks are here in the States and Canada....not in Greece and not in Germany.

and here is my stereotype of of various Europeans:
British - Ugly, bad teeth drunk and obnoxious French - Comparable to Greeks in arrogance, extremely emotional about stupid things, self-reighteous, feminine men that cry and rude Germans - loud and obnoxious Italians - comparable to Greeks in rudeness Spaniards - Not too bad...maybe sexual deviants haven't had much contact
the best Europeans...the Irish! Friendly, courteous
all euros seems to lack common courtesy with the exception of the Irish

The Greeks in Astoria are a plague. Thank god I only have to work 3 more weeks in this shithole. I actually go to this Greek deli every day to get a coffee and my bacon, egg and cheese sandwhich( I figured it would be better to help out the fellow Balkanite then the Spanish deli down the street.) And in real life I'm quite polite to people. I always wait my turn and have never given the greeks an attitude if they messed up my order or if they're taking too long. I've been in the food industry business and I can emphasize with them. Well a few days ago this 5'6" fat, 50 year old Greek, had the audacity to call me a "malaka." (I guess he figured I didn't hear him.) I gave him a bit of a violent look and I asked him who the fck he was calling a Malaka. Long story short, the little chubster apologized and now I go to the Spanish deli. Scary thing is Astoria used to be much more Greek, but thanks to the newer immigrants it’s a bit more diverse. I couldn't imagine working in Astoria say 10-20 years ago.

I dont know...from what I have seen from you writing here in Greek...its not fluently....I would say you speak it spasta with grammar mistakes which someone who has always been speaking it at home wont do. Or am I wrong? You do hardly write in Greek...just one two words always...you are avoiding to write in it or not? I hope Im wrong...
You say you are engaged...well thats what I mean...you are Greek within this american environment...this way Greek...but you lack the direct contact to Greece...you are seeing it as sth almost alien and prefer to stay in your Greek world within America....thats another kind of Greekness. I dont doubt your Greekness of course you are Greek but you are much more integrated into your envirnonment than the European Greeks. You are culturally assimilated...Im surely as well...but I think Greek Americans are usually much stronger than we here...I have heard complains of Greeks from Greece about their american relatives that they can not speak Greek fluently...you will never see that among Greeks in Germany. Also many Greeks of America have changed their names into american versions in past...sth we are never doing here. And I think you are done with Greece because you said you would never want to move back to Greece. Thats factually nothing else. You love your country of origin but from far away only. There was a time I said the same...but meanwhile I changed my mind...I dont exclude to go to Greece one day...whenever I see what is happening there on tv...I feel that I belong to there...that thats the place I should be living actually...and not the one here.
as I said....I think you are still much more assimilated than you want to admit....thats what I have observed among greek americans. Im still looking for the Greek who was born in American and speaks well Greek without having attended a Greek school. Not seen one yet...

I know my $6 a day won't make them bankrupt, but its bad custumer service. In fact I notice most of the Greeks that run these diners/restaurant tend to be disrespectful. They tend to be loud and impatient. Fck em! Only reason people go these shitholes is because they're cheap.

Kastor....I'll rephrase what I wrote in my previous post.
In my eyes, just because a person speaks better Greek than me and wants to move/live in Greece, DOES NOT make them a better Greek. A good Greek is a person that does something for Greece...not a cafenio jockey...'αναβάτης καφετέρια'.

I would have to delete my account 1000 times from what I see Albanians, Turks and Vardarskans are writing for Greece in this forum... PS. .. by the way... if you compare Monastiraki with Milan.. then yes.. we look backward

I actually go to this Greek deli every day to get a coffee and my bacon, egg and cheese sandwhich( I figured it would be better to help out the fellow Balkanite then the Spanish deli down the street.) . ..that is exactly what I'm doing when I have to give even 1 euro and there is the option of a Balkanian shopkeaper when I travel abroad. I always prefer to give that 1 euro to the Balkanian store.. Quite paradox eh?

I might fck around a bit and bust some jokes (most of them are reciprocal to provocations from the likes of Patrinas, Kararis and Eat Shyt!) but in the end I do find a unique bondness with people from the Balkans. I have a few Balkan co-workers and everytime we have lunch within our department, its usually us that do most of the talking while the other co-workers listen. So getting back to my point, I'd rather help out a Greek family then a Spanish one. Stupid rationale......whatever. But I won't stand for personal insults.........
