Hmmm.... lol... I don't think I have a single Greek friend since I graduated from my gymnasion. Im very thankful for the Croatians in my neighborhood. They give me my fix of Balkan kinship. And now Im thankful for the Turkides. Sorry... Astoria has good coffee houses... what can I say. At least I generally stick to the ones that are Turkish or Italian opened. No Frappe Attiki for me, thank you. Istanbul caffee is very nice.

In the past before i posted on anthropology forums, i thought of greeks as swarthy and non-white (like turks, arabs, and persians). But since i saw many faces of greeks on anthropology forums, i have to say that most greeks are indeed white and look like europeans. My wrong impression was also given by a greek restaurant owner who looked like the average turk i see in austria.

Among Greeks you cannot find more non european faces in relation to the other balkanians.

sooo many old folks
I have to say this again, there is a distinctness of Greeks to Northern Europeans.Of course, the vast majority of people in these pictures possess the "European" look, there is a lot of Near Eastern features.Mostly the brows, the nose, the eyes, and colourishness of the skin.
When I watch TV,most of the programs are from America featuring European Americans,so I see the disticntness here.

Just took a quick evaluation of the viewable faces (133 faces total) (finished within 1/6 of the first page since there are to many faces)
- Balkanic look ....................................(70 faces or 52%) - 'Greek' look .......................................(52 faces or 39%) (or look much more found in Greece then elsewhere in the vicinity) (To avoid Confusion Greeks mainly belong to two above types) - Mixed Slavic/Balkanic look ...............(4 faces or 3%) - Slavic look .......................................(3faces or 2.2%) - Turkic (Turanid) look .......................(2 faces or 1.5%) - 'Gypsy' or mixed Gypsy ...................(2 faces or 1.5%) - Nordic or Scandinavian ...................(0 faces or 0%) - Mixed or Unidentifiable ...................(0 faces or 0%)
*Turanids and 'Gypsies' here looks mixed with locals *Balkanic looks more crude and more influenced by UP (Upper Paleolithic with more exaggerated features.. one ex. is Dinarics) *Greek look is more med, more symmetrical and more refined.
So rough draft of the faces is that -1/2 looks Balkanic -1/33 mixed Slavic/Balkanic -1/45 looks Slavic -over 1/3 looks Greek -1/33 looks Asian
All in all 91% looks native (Balkanic and 'Greek') (Balkan look would be Thracians, Dorians and Illyrians) (Balkan look is basically Mountain Greeks ;D ;D ;D ) ('Greek' look would be Minoans etc) Additional 7% looks like deluted natives
---------------- Total 98% look native and partially or mainly native

I have a question though; does Greek male facial hair grow like that naturally or is it a style? Specifically, I'm talking about the bald patch between the mouth and side cheek. I've noticed a lot of Greek men have it when they grow facial hair. Pics below of what I'm talking about.

I havent noticed it yet but I have it like that, too. But I doubt its a "Greek thing"...
