If u ever happen to be in Istanbul, try to visit the backstreet passages of taksim, you can find many many Turks, Greeks, and Armenians having raki together and talking, I always enjoy this part of istanbul. I agree with u I wish all of Turkey was more cosmopolitan. Ive been there plenty of times. Seen Taksim...like I said...loved the place.

Actually there are numerous Greek Armenian Assyrian churches and also Synagogues in Istanbul. Kadikoy, Taksim, Buyukada... Im referring to the mother of all churches. The Aghia Sofia. Princess Islands and of course the Halki Seminary

erm,, megolomaniac Turkish politicians, after Ataturk seems this is all we had, we went backwards after Ataturk such a shame..... Anyhow, So I am really wondering how exactly these people will "go" .. ? I mean we aren't living in the stonge ages u can't climb on a T rex and get them to eat up all the people in Istanbul can u Kasto? What is your strategy here? Your civilised european strategy? Are u aiming to become a superpwoer with this city, what do you think the EU will say about this LOL No...Im no nationalist in fact. I just dream of this city...as every Greek almost does...thats a fact. Its not because we want a huge Greece its just this one city...Constantinople was till the 19th century the most important Greek city in the world..for 1500 years. Imagine that...how much we are bound to this city...our culture etc. Its much more important than Athens. Athens didnt deserve to become a capital...it didnt have the capacity...it was a village because thats what it deserved to be. Athens is an artificial city. I guess you Turks love Constantinople but you love it because its beautiful..it was for 450 years your capital...there isnt more that connects you with it. For us...it is much more than just a beautiful city.....its our child...we founded it...its the capital of our Greek Empire of the middle age...it contains the greatest church we ever built...till today. Greece has the two of three regions that are most important for its history...it has southern Greece with Athens and the Peloponnesean cities like Sparta and Corinth...it has Macedonia with Thessaloniki, Pella, Vergina...for the Macedonian era...and just one is still missing. Its Constantinople whose history started in 330, while of course it was a Greek colony before that.

Kasto I couldnt give a sh.it about places or buildings.
As I know there is more to this life than what we see. Since you are so religious yourself why can't u see this?
At the end of the day GOD will punish those who deserve, History is HIs Story always, places do not define who you are, YOU DO.
I agree that it should be made back to its original state of a Church, as I think the Ottomans made their point, whatever it was. It isn't going to happen with this govt though.
Youre feelings are understandable, I do know these type of feelings as I used to have them for Turkey, not any longer. Life teaches you that territory places and thimngs don't really matter, what matters is youre own ethics and beliefs, your personal state, so rather than harm your mind with feeling sad, try to feed your soul with love for God.
