Croatian Marin Cilic was forced survive a late fightback from Andy Roddick before booking his place in the last four of the Australian Open. Cilic had looked set for an relatively easy passage into the last four as he stormed into a two-set lead against Roddick. But despite struggling with an injury to his right shoulder, seventh-seeded Roddick refused to give up and he showed his fighting qualities. However Cilic was able to hold his nerve in a tense deciding set to seal a 7-6 6-3 3-6 2-6 6-3 victory - and a first-ever Grand Slam semi-final appearance. Cilic, who beat Juan Martin del Potro in the fourth round, will now face either Andy Murray or Rafael Nadal for a place in the final. Roddick had looked out of sorts early on and was clearly troubled by the problem with his shoulder - with the American needing a medical time out and on going treatment. Cilic had served for the first set and although he was broken, he responded well to take the tiebreak. Roddick started the second set well by breaking Cilic, however he failed to consolidate his advantage as the 14th seed hit back to break him twice before moving on to take the set. Thoughts of a straight sets victory quickly vanished, though, as Roddick again showed his never-say-die attitude to break the Cilic serve before vitally holding his own. And it looked liked a dramatic comeback was on the cards as Roddick stormed through the fourth set, playing his best tennis of the match. However Cilic was not to be denied and he broke Roddick early in the deciding set before going on to see out the victory. www.skysports.com/tennis/tournaments/story/0,25174,17643_5885632,00.html

Roddick has the fastest serve in professional tennis, or at least had unless someone beat that. Other than that he sucks. Good job Cilic.

Hey, Gavrilo...you made the mistake to start heating the pen before you've caught the fish. Why didn't you wait for several hours?

Our mediocre athletes beat Serbia in basketball out of all things during the summer in the mediteranean games. Mind you our players were so pathetic that they got beaten by every other team they played against. Yet somehow the beat your "legendary" athletes.

good stuff by cilic.
cilic is in a very good position to beat andy murray.
last time cilic played murray was in the US open last year, where he beat murray in straight sets 7-5 6-2 6-2 .
everybody is writing off cilic , saying that murray will have an easy win, but i dont think so at all. it will be a tough game, and cilic is very much capable of winning the game.

That was Serbia C team (Juniors, B team was playing University Games (1st place) and A team was practicing for European Championship that year where they won 2nd place) and Albania played with A team (Seniors). Anyway you won that time and you will wait for decades to happen it again.

First off, 1-what shonic said. And 2- serbs have historically ben very successful athletes, unlike you albs. Especially in basketball. I play divsion one college and I know of one albanian and lots of serbs. not to mention professional basketball in europe...or the nba..or the 2002 world championships, or qualifying for the olympics in most years...I could go on but its pointless

You Serbs are full of $hit. When you lose you blame it on the crappy team you have while the other team must have been so superior to yours. Point is there is no sport superiority. You suck at weightlifting, boxing, martial arts, where we excel. We suck at other sports. And even though we suck when we play against Serb teams we win. Check out Flamurtari. Last time they played in Belgrade they eliminated the Serb team in Belgrade. No matter how mediocre we beat you. Case closed.

And we beat you in the important sports every-time we meet. Case closed. Where should I start.................... First mentioned Mediterranean games and some major sport (although Serbia is not so powerful in handball): ALB - Albania 8 SRB - Serbia 66 (1:32) (7:34) www.pescara2009.it/results/ ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D Do you know why usually Serbia do not meet so often with Albanian teams on major events ( World Championship, European Championship, Olympic Games......)? Because Albania did not qualify. For Mediterranean Games there are no qualifications, you just need to show up. Martial arts? In Karate Albanians are not better than Serbians. Example: www.karaterec.com/en/contests/under-21-european-cup-2009/www.karaterec.com/en/contests/european-championship-2009/Just do not tell me that Albania is not in Europe Wrestling too: serbiatodaymagazine.blogspot.com/2009/12/partizan-wrestlers-are-champions-of.htmlNo wrestling teams in Albania? There are some Albanians good in Boxing, Weightlifting and Kick boxing but that is just not enough to compare Serbia and Albania in sports.

Comparing Albanian sporting achievements to Serbian or any other of the slavic countries really achievements lol how delusional some Albanians can be. Face it Albanian's are the biggest unco's in the region when it comes to sport. Apparently Albanians are good at boxing which is probably mroe a reflection of their culture and Arab-med like tendencies.
I watched Djokovic v Tsonga last night. Djokovic was the better player right up to the last set when he aparently had stomach problems. There's no way anyone other than Federer is going to win this tournament anyway.

Everytime we meet? You can't even qualify for anything semi-important.
